The Weekend YouTube Music Video Thread
Self | 03/07/08 | Caramelgal

Hi all! TGIF! It’s the Weekend! Remember that this Sunday starts Daylight Savings Time – Spring Ahead! Whoo Whoo!

First of all, I lost my link to the “This Day in Music History” – it’s no longer available and I haven’t found a good replacement yet.

I’ve also been absent for the last few weeks. Sorry but I my cable modem went on the fritz and then I’ve been super crazy busy looking for a new job (I can send my resume to anyone who is interested) and I’ve also been helping out my niece and her husband who have an 11 month old baby and are now expecting again within the next month – triplets!

Anyway, I heard this song on the radio and I wanted to share it – beautiful and haunting. I hope you all like it as much as I did.

She reminds me a bit of Anna Nalick

Classy.
Reminds me of my work-week, too.

Desperately looking for a video, Doctor & The Medics “Burning Love,” a cover of the Elvis song. Searched all over the web and You Tube but no results. Anybody?

So much talent in such a deeply injured personality. So sad. Thats my take on Andy anyway.

Here is one from Hendrix, ‘burning midnite lamp’ live.

Looking at his videos at 17 yrs old and 53 yrs old http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=COmTXAQKbc4 While he could knock them out of the ballpark, many of his performances were not improvisations, he simply was so high he could not remember long enough to stay in the song. And Noel Redding was probably right, he was the one running the band and JH showed up for the gigs

Listening to that song played on guitar makes me think it was probably originally written on guitar, with the harpsichord as an in-the-studio afterthought.

The link says Ry Cooder, but it’s Harry Dean Stanton doing the singing.

" He was an amazing singer, but faded away when he lost all that weight... so to speak. Is he still alive?"

Oh yes, though he's had trouble with vocal chord cysts that have impeded his singing and caused cancellation of a big tour a year or two ago. Wikipedia has a good article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meat_Loaf
