The Weekend YouTube Music Video Thread
Self | 03/07/08 | Caramelgal

Hi all! TGIF! It’s the Weekend! Remember that this Sunday starts Daylight Savings Time – Spring Ahead! Whoo Whoo!

First of all, I lost my link to the “This Day in Music History” – it’s no longer available and I haven’t found a good replacement yet.

I’ve also been absent for the last few weeks. Sorry but I my cable modem went on the fritz and then I’ve been super crazy busy looking for a new job (I can send my resume to anyone who is interested) and I’ve also been helping out my niece and her husband who have an 11 month old baby and are now expecting again within the next month – triplets!

Anyway, I heard this song on the radio and I wanted to share it – beautiful and haunting. I hope you all like it as much as I did.

That was Meatloaf’s peak... Hard to sustain a career with a name like Meatloaf.

I dont know about that, but I do know my world is full of strange arrangements, and many questions I have no answer for.

The local PBS station had a fund raising drive last night featuring a special about The Clash.... and I almost phoned in a donation. I have become my parents!

"That was Meatloaf’s peak..."

Eh, "Bat Out of Hell" might qualify... terrific driving music. He still rocks even today.

About fifteen years ago, ABC had a big multipart series on the Beatles. In it was Meat Loaf, accompanied only by a piano, singing "Let It Be". The man has serious pipes! Made the hair on my neck stand straight up. Best, most intimate, most affecting rendition I've ever heard. Just stunning.

I didn't recall that Tainted Love video being that disturbing. But as long as we are getting weird and 80'ish....

Talk about a time warp, Nick seems to have forgotten which decade he is in.

He was an amazing singer, but faded away when he lost all that weight... so to speak. Is he still alive?

It has that bizzaro sort of Rocky Horror production value to it, doesn’t it?

Links to 10 more. A good save for later but when I went there I watched them all one after another at one sitting. Adult language warning again. The earlier ones are better. One includes a guest appearance by the real Drew Carey. It helps if people know the time period and artists mentioned.
