"The fatigue the bug caused was one of the worst symptoms. I had it from start to end for over a month. My chest got so tight I had to get an inhaler."

It's a nasty one, isn't it? I got a flu shot in October since I travel so much, and I managed to escape several bad bugs my kids brought home that seemed to be variants of the flu. Maybe the shot helped. Maybe it wore off? Maybe it was mis-targeted and wouldn't apply to this bug? Who knows. There's no doubt my affliction is influenza, either. Rather classic symptoms. And you can appreciate how it can kill people. I'm healthy, in decent shape, and probably only caught it from getting run-down with too much travel and not dosing myself with Airborne as meticulously as I should've. But once I had it I'd say my strength and endurance were reduced by 80-90%, to a point where I was starting to get rather worried. I'm getting better fast now, thanks to lots of rest, tons of vitamins, no aspirin or other fever-reducer (fever is good! ...to a point, of course), and an occasional dosing of codeine late in the game to stop the cataclysmic (and pointlessly unproductive) cough. Gad I love codeine, a true wonder drug. For me, it's the only thing that works for a chest-shattering cough like that.

Anyway, I got the bug Tuesday, and now it's Friday and I'm much, much improved. Now to avoid over-doing things and causing a relapse! Those suck majorly.

Glad you are starting to feel better. Why has it taken two weeks to hear about this “incident” though? FR is better than this:’)

I agree wholeheartedly about your observation relating to fever. No anti-pyretics taken here until it approaches 102. Fever is miserable to the viruses too.

Problem was, I didn’t have any fever with this bout. Almost was wishing for it. Had some very mild chills and sweats, that’s it.

I had very little cough and yes it was mostly non productive. What I had was chest tightness and breathlessness. Intense fatigue with that yucky feeling and terrible sinus symptoms for 4-5 days. It all started with a sore throat that lasted for a week. (no strep)
