I came back from my honeymoon in August to find my garage was burglarized of $2500 of stuff.
One of the items was pawned, so they got the guy who did it and he said to the cops that my neighbor houses down set up and planned it.

I actually live in a low crime area, but if the bastards are in the area, you are going to get hit.

I’ve been pushing for the fellow who got caught to be prosecuted, and being the stuff is gone, I want as part of their parole later that they pay restitution.
Plus I want the neighbor who had something to do with it to bend over in prison getting the soap with his buddy.
:-)

Thanks! I’ve missed everyone! It takes a lot to put me down and the crud this year seems especially virulent. If I was able to turn on the computer and log in I seemed to pass out shortly thereafter. Now I really like being online, but to sleep with my computer is definitely not my preferred way to surf.

Whatever folks like that get in prison is far too good for them. Forget the soap, Vaseline or hand lotion....

I spent two years paying for a 32” screen TV, only to have it stolen six months later while it was in storage.

What I wished for the perps cannot be posted here, since this is a “family thread.” But you can bet it wasn’t for bubblegum and balloons.

Hey! You got 3/5ths of a Full House!!!

Yah, I know. I hate being sick. For any reason. The computer is my lifeline to the world, and FR is the heartbeat...

(Hodang! We made it to 80 today!!!)

Hey, I remember this thread. It actually resulted in some additional knowledge when I checked out some Tesla stuff on the web!

I found one of my items had been sold on Ebay and was in complete sales.
By the time I got to the item, it was shipped out of state.

I eventually found out the seller was a pawn shop 5 blocks from my home.
The thief presented his thumb print and valid California ID when he pawned the stolen item.

I should live so long. By the time the storage facility and Metro (police) got done, I couldn’t even complain.

So, 18 months later, I’m sitting here with a tiny little 19” screen with monaural sound. And no reimbursement because I had no “private” insurance.

Like, I should need it, when my things are in the possession of someone I’m paying to take care of them...?

Only in LV.

Confiscate the thumb.

California ID’s are a dime a dozen.

Anyone can get one.

Mine was considered felony burglary.

When I found out, I was pissed.
I found a piece of stolen goods that they didn’t even prosecute the guy on yet.

They did come and arrest the guy on probation violations already anyway.
The other neighbor who the guy was talking about was arrested two weeks after that for hitting his 80 year old father who had cancer in the head with a frying pan.
When the police arrested that great guy they found he was harboring a felon in his room. The room looked like something out of Silence of the Lambs.

I still want the one guy prosecuted and if he can drag my neighbor back into jail on that issue as well, then good.
I also want a restraining order on both since neither can do special ops when I am not home all hours of the day and night to rob me again.

With the new marriage and a baby on the way, this is not a pleasant situation.

This guy had his thumb print, and California ID.
They wrote it down and got a picture of the ID.

California requires valid CA ID and thumbprint to pawn anything.

In LA, it’s “felony burglary.” In LV, it’s “Oh,well...”

And with that, I’m going to bed. I hate to think about the two years I paid for that TV, on a limited income, just so someone else could could steal it and get twice what I paid for it (in nose candy.)

Y’all take care!

I got taking into buying insurance when I was in college only later to find out it didn’t cover what I wanted it for. I was going to cancel it but school was busy so I put it off. It did cover a theft from my car of about $500 worth of tools. So I collected and then canceled.

I hear you, it’s screwed to be robbed.

I had tons of stuff to redo my kitchen in the garage.

Had a sink, ceiling fan, fancy hand made guitar, fancy bathroom mirrored cabinet, back swing, tile saw and other stuff stolen.

I started walking 6 miles per day for Lent.
I should have done the math on how much time that takes!

Perhaps running is an option to shorten the cycle, but I run out of breath in a mile or so....

I have lost 20 pounds since Ash Wednesday though! Almost back to wedding weight!

I lived in LA...I lived on Crenshaw and 109th, as well as across the street from CSUN/Epicenter. I’ve also lived in San Diego and in San Francisco. I know CA well enough to know I don’t EVER want to live there again.

I thought lent was about giving up something you liked?

Oh yeah, you are giving up your time.

Congratulations on the weight loss.
