So, with gasolene prices bobbing up and down. And the economy also bobbing! When and what will it take to get rel action n Aternative energy?Nikola tesla(1856-1943) had the answer more then a 100 years ago! That of broadcasting wirelessly eletric power! He even set up a braodcasting tower for this at Wardecylle,Long Island(Now Shoreham, L.I.) But when he mentioned FREE ELECTRIOC POWER to hs financial backer the great Robber Baron J.P. Morga. Whos meatered eletric power intreste would have been ruined. The money was removed and Tesla went into a life long debt!To honor Dr. Tesla in 2005 and 2006 I organized the GLOBAL ENERGY INDPENDENCE DAY held every July 10th the birthdate anniversary of Dr tesla. To rembewr Tesla and promote ALTERNATIVE ENERGY AND FUELS,VeHICLES. See the Tesla memorial Society www.teslasociety.com And Pure Energy Systems A Community Built Alternative energy site www.Peswiki.comNikola Tesla/GloBAL ENERGY INDPENDENCE DAY. No!!!!! What is neeeded is REAL ACTIO NOW!!!! Perhaps at least a Day to rember Nikola tesla And PROMTING ALTERNATIVE ENERGY is one way to do this?
Yepper...by the time I was 8, we had read ALL the books in the “children’s library” and had to get permission to read the books “upstairs.” Obviously, our mother granted the permission to the Librarian (who frowned on us from then on, each time we checked out a book...)
I still struggle with shyness. In school, I was The Best reader in my grade, and was always called upon to read in front of the class. Usually to my undying shame.
Over-compensating is typical with shy people...
Thanks to you and LoM! (You see I haven’t gone to bed yet; I’m having a little nerve medicine :-).
We have a hard time saying no to stuff, so now we have the Scouts, the Sunday School, the Spanish choir, the festival, and I forget what else. At least someone volunteered to take over the Republican precinct committee!
What a relief! I mean, what can I say to a person who has had more education than I, in a field I know nothing about?
I suspect we will get along famously!
THAT's an insight I've not encountered! Maybe that's part of why I now have a moniker known by many in this industry, why I write magazine articles, and book speaking engagements... all of which would have been instant anathema to me when I left college.
With the size of your family and all the demands I know you are under, I am ALWAYS in awe of you and Der Prinz, and how you consistently handle things.
Had I been fortunate enough to have all the kids I wanted (an even dozen) I would like to think I would have been like you.
The K of C are only rewarding you for what you seem to think is “normal.” To us, you are AWESOME!!!
Our shy personas are always covered by something we can relate to. Jim Henson was a “perfect” example. His shyness was physically and emotionally painful for him, so he invented the Muppets in order to be “accepted.”
He never dreamed he would have been an asset, even as he was.
Even though I “know” that, I still prefer to hide behind my “’Face!”
We all have our fields of expertise. My current job... I'm in the learning phase. The stuff I studied in college I don't use anymore, except where it sometimes gives me a bit of background. I know just enough to know there's an awful lot I don't know, and there's always someone around who knows an awful lot more about something about which I know little.
So you're on safe ground here. I know already there's stuff about which you know a lot but about which I am thoroughly ignorant.
LOL! It's called "trivia," and I like to say, 'I'm a Jill of all trades, but mistress of none!'
I try to learn as much as I can about as much as I can, which makes me an Information Junkie. Over the years, I've learned to glean the facts from the fiction, but even that isn't easy.
And my shyness is always an inhibitor!
So you're not tied down. *\;-) (But "trivia" can be critically important at times...)
And my shyness is always an inhibitor!
"Monkey Face" and "shyness" do not belong in the same sentence. (Whether your 'other' name and "shyness" do is an independent matter.)
But I am not on much longer on FR tonight... I (the early-riser) will try to be up long enough to illuminate the local sky/cloud-cover for "Earth Hour" but (night-owl) LoM will probably have to turn it off.
I’ve been accused of being an “intellectual” more times than I can count.
If we adhered to ALL the things that liberal teachers say, in all walks of life, we would all be squirming in foxholes, trying to analyze the mud and inspecting the “cover” we were given.
We would also not need grocery stores or cars or jobs. Not to mention partners of any kind, and that includes babies.
(I do some of my best thinking late at night, with a drink under my belt!)
So. The Moral to this Story is: Be yourself, and to heck with what the neighbors say!
I won at Trivial Pursuit so often, the game became boring.
“Monkey Face” is a perfect shield for “intruders.” Most times, I’m mistaken for a male. And that’s OK, because a lot of my thinking is more masculine than feminine. I drive like a man; I use logic like a man; I solve problems like a man.
My “other” name is not an indicator of shyness, though I don’t care for it. My mother named me when I was too young to protest!
Porch light is on, so you have a good night! I’m ready for Earth Whatever!
I say, in the name of the Earth goddess Gaia, we all should turn on all our lights for one hour.
Mine is on, blazing amidst the glare of the neon of The Strip.
And, in sympathy for those who have no clue, I’m turning on all the lights of my house!
:oþ
I thought of that old song Funny Face and assume it was for a female. But I am not normal. I have seen what they call normal and find it very weird. I say that I am ADDnormal which is better than normal.
“Funny Face” was one of my favorite songs, because of the guy I loved at the time. He was later killed in a car accident, but the song always gives me soft memories.
I often think of Marty Feldman, in Young Frankenstein, when he finds the brain for AB Normal...Abby Normal...Yepper! That’s it!
PS: I’m just “strange!”
