Good Morning!

The atomic clock says 51 degrees outside....but the sun has chased all the clouds away—gorgeous outside.

I never let my kids go back unless they were fever-free for 24 hours. They never had relapses.

The extra day made all the difference.

My mother was always very concerned that we were malingering :-).

LOL!

When it came to illnesses, I let them do what they wanted that last day, as long as it was RESTFUL. The could read, play games, sleep, watch TV or whatever. They could NOT run, go outside, play rough or do any chores. They liked that day!

We got to lie on the sofabed in the living room and watch games shows when we were sick.

Unless the child is desperately ill, he gets bored lying in bed fairly soon. When they’re well enough to get out of bed, they’re well enough to do a math worksheet or write a paragraph!

LOL!

My kids knew if they DIDN’T stay “down” they would be kept home another day, and that was incentive enough to make them compliant.

:o])

I was a pretty mean mom, all things considered...

I’m so mean, I’m going to make them all take a nap until it’s time for gymnastics :-).

See? It’s a wonder my kids have anything to do with me, these days. ;o]

Now Pat is demanding to play “The Bath From the North, Too: Rise of the Whiz Kid.” (This is “Battle for Middle-Earth II: Rise of the Witch King.) Pat is in his own universe.

Sounds to me like the Whiz Kid arrived about the same time as the Greek blocks.

When the Whiz Kid started reading the Unabridged Dictionary before his 4th birthday, it was all over!

James doesn’t read yet, but he and Vlad know all their letters in English and Greek :-).

Off to nap, see you later!

Didn’t, especially - Vlad’s getting obstreperous about his nap. He kept wailing, “Mama, it’s my daytime!” But we sorted it out. I’m not going to have him thinking he doesn’t need a nap.

Now I need a Diet Coke before my chauffeur takes us gymnastics :-).

My son didn’t seem to like the word, “nap” by the time he was three, so I told him that I was going to have a nap, so HE would have to have a “quiet time.” He could do whatever he wanted as long as he didn’t make any noise doing it.

Nine times out of ten, he would play quietly and then fall asleep. He was a good little guy, and I can’t help but wish I could have bottled those days. *sigh*

That worked with the older boys, when we had fewer children per room :-).
