BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) — Tom Cruise is the first on the list to get Ducati's newest motorcycle — a $72,500 superbike bristling with titanium, magnesium and carbon fiber technology that can scoot up to 200 mph. Cruise is scheduled to take delivery of the Desmosedici RR at Beverly Hills Ducati this week. Only 1,500 of the red-and-white Moto GP racing replica motorcycles will be made and Cruise gets the first.

...and will probably put it in his garage, on display, or in storage where it will never see pavement until it is wheeled off by a collector/fan sometime in the 2040s.

Shoot, I'd be happy with one of these - probably $4500 or so out the door:

Is that the 250 or a 600 Ninja? I've owned Kawasakis, and they make great bikes. In fact, I rode a Ninja 600 the last time I attended Keith Code's California Superbike School. Now that was a very fun day.

I have to say though, if I could afford one of those Ducatis, I'd buy one in a heartbeat. Just because of the "mechanical cool factor." I mean, it's got a cassette transmission, GP spec suspension, brakes that are equal to those on factory superbike racing teams, and an engine that is a slightly detuned version of the one that set the all-time high speed record for MotoGP or Grand Prix bikes (just barely under 216MPH) the difference between this and the speed tests seen on big bikes like they Hyabusa, is that this speed was set on a grand prix road course. Lots of magnesium, titanium, and carbon fiber. I'm drooling on my keyboard right now...

That’s the 250! You know they did a great job when it looks like one of their bigger bikes.

Yeah, I’d love to have a Ducati too, I’ll take an S4R thank you very much.
