And every person who visits the zoo expect the cages to keep the animals in, even if people make noises at the animals.
Zoo employees have reported for 40 years that tigers were jumping the moat at this particular enclosure.
Unless the victims unlocked the tigers cage, let something down the wall enabling it to climb out, the zoo is at fault.
Do you really think cages should only be strong enough for non-enraged animals?
Let me get this straight. So if I go to Yellowstone Natl Park, where the sign says Welcome to Yellowstone, encouraging visitors to enter, and get out of my vehicle when there are grizzly bears around, and even though there are signs warning visitors not to feed wildlife or encroach upon them, it is Yellowstones fault if a bear kills me while I run up and tease it?
Have you been following the facts in this story?
Of course they acted like punks. But they thought they were safe, as they should have. Sorry but taunting a tiger should just get your a$$ thrown out, not killed.
Yes, I have been following the facts of this story, and have spent most of my life around wild animals which is why I have come to the conclusions that I have. Sure the zookeepers would have thrown then out if they had seen the taunting, just as the park rangers would escort you out of Yellowstone for acting like a dumb ass, but sometimes nature takes care of problems before human intervention can take place.
It does not matter what kind of noises the victims were making. And it does not matter wildly they were waiving their arms.
The enclosure should have kept the tiger inside.
Comparing Yellowstone park to a zoo is absurd, IMHO. When in Yellowstone, people are not protected by fenced enclosures. When in a ZOO, people are protected by fencing or other enclosures...or at least they’re supposed to be. I heard one gal on the news who commented on this situation and I agree with her. No animal should be able to escape their enclosure at a zoo regardless if someone has blood smeared on them, food, or are otherwise taunting a caged animal. If this tiger had gotten out and had mauled or killed bystanders WITHOUT any taunting, I bet you’d be changing your tune.
