“...nor was it the correct season in question.”
Oh no? Using the same absurd logic used by the Belichick/Pats haters, if they cheated in ‘69, they most certainly continued to cheat.
I wonder if the Dolphins cheated to get Morrall from the Colts? :-)
I hope so. I even hope so for the Pats’ sake. Better they don’t have to deal with the “cheating” albatross next to the SB win; bad enough they already will deal with it next to their perfect season.
Go Pats !!
You however... can “go” ____ your****....
= )
“There was NO WAY to exploit the signals in real time.”
Then why bother doing this?
Well that’s true.
But again, you’re talking about some indirect “cheat”. Signing a guy is a single point in time thing. Filming things to directly get an edge tends to be the on-going thing.
BTW: GO **REAL** COLTS!
No, I’m comparing rule violations by the Dolphins and the Pats.
Both were guilty of RULE VIOLATIONS, not cheating.
Even Goodell admitted that the Pats did not gain any edge against the competition.
Yes, I still like the Colts. Can’t blame them for what the demon irsay did. I’m pretty sure you and I have discussed this before. :-)
I was pretty young when the Dolphins stole Shula.
Funny how things seemed so important back then.
Obviously they are wrong and cheaters so you tell us. What did it gain them when they are already the best? Are you really going to assert that they were only good because of it?
Can anyone cite the actual NFL rule on cameras and where specifically they are allowed ?
As I understand it, cameras are not allowed on the field but ARE allowed elsewhere in the stadium, and if this is true and most teams have some cameras in the stadium, aren’t they all using this system to some degree ??
NFL rules state “no video recording devices of any kind are permitted to be in use in the coaches’ booth, on the field, or in the locker room during the game.” They also say all video for coaching purposes must be shot from locations “enclosed on all sides with a roof overhead.”

I think the Patriots record in previous seasons would be stained more than in this season. The Patriots were caught in game one against the hapless Jets and that game’s outcome was really not anyway affected (as the rest of the Jets’ season indicated.) I don’t think there’s an asterisk or a black mark on Belichick. Doubtless, he was not the only coach doing illegal spying, simply the only one to get caught. If the Pats manage to go 19-0, I’d simply applaud the effort. Personally, I’m rooting the NY Giants to get one more crack at them, but that’s doubtless wishful thinking on my part. And it’s sour grapes on Shula’s part. Just my opinion, I could be wrong.
This is about your fifth post on this topic since the weekend. You should understand that hate and envy are self-destructive emotions. For your own health and well-being, please purge yourself of these self-destructive emotions. You should not let the fortunes of a football team control your life like this.
“I hope they do get an asterisk, just to highlight what a great season they had and what a dominating team they were.”
Ha, I like it.
Just wondering...when the Pats were preparing for the Ravens game, do you think they questioned Adalius Thomas about the Ravens’ signals or, gasp, would that be cheating?
imho, isn’t the whole game tainted because there is probably a lot of steroid and human growth hormone and other substance abuse use in football? I think so, but one gets by it and watches it anyway.
Nay Carumba.
All I said was that in hindsight, it would have been better if it hadn't been marred by Belichick's underhanded unsportsmanlike choices.
