This fell off from underneath the front passenger side of my car (06' Toyota Camry) about a half-hour ago, while I was driving:
Anyone know what it is? Is it important to get it back on ASAP? I kind of new it was going to eventually come off as it was making noise and hanging low, flapping the past couple weeks.
I fed a wire hanger through the hole two Fridays ago, and hooked it up using the front grate of the car. I knew it probably wouldn't stay on forever.
Can't find much on the Toyota forums. There is another comparable piece underneath the car on the driver's side which is just flapping in the wind when I drive. When I go over 45 I can hear a scraping sound, but am thinking it's just the sound of the wind hitting this panel (the one that didn't completely fall off yet).
Any input welcome, except for "Take it to a dealer or call a dealer." My lease is up soon and it's not worth putting more $$$ into the car, since I'm a good customer and they never penalize me for returning cars with minor problems in the past, when the lease is up.
Thank you,
JDM
Exactly so! The three items that fix any problem are duct tape, WD-40 and plastic zip-ties. In fact, I think that's about all they take up on the space shuttle in case of mechanical problems.
My mechanic is strongly against using wire hangers...
Okay, that's a bit reassuring. Thanks for your reply.
It is the thrush bearing from your muffler.
I can replace it for $749.95, with a one-year warranty.
Faye Dunaway. LOL.
Everybody knows that.
I came home yesterday after my wife told the the foster child from the state arrived.
She's been asking for another little one to take care of and that with the monetary help from the state we could swing it finincally.
(Money has been tight recently.)
I agreed and trust her judgment, my only guidelines were not bring home some handicapped child we can't spend the time with.
The kid acts like it's on Ritalin or something, but she perks up and starts sticking her nose in my crotch, what's up with that!
The question I have is does anyone know what nationality/race this little red head is?
Thanks for any help in advance,
Yankee.
I looks like its upside down. Do you have panels on the inside of your door?
Jap cars are so CHEAP! Flimsy plastic stuff falling off and all.
The stuff that is always falling off of my Ford is solid *metal*, I’ll have you know.
My real mechanic is my uncle and he gets on every part of my back when I have to call him about something wrong with my own car.
Looks like a little wind- or water-shield.
Since your lease is almost up, if the car is out of warranty I’d just stick it in a corner of my garage and turn the car in when the appointed day comes. If they object to the piece missing, get a new one and the necessary fasteners and put the new one on. It’s a simple job, don’t need a lift.
I pulled a similar piece off a Subaru once in a disagreement with a fallen log. A new one cost me about $65 and took no time at all to install. Its purpose was to gain an additional 0.001% in drag coefficient, and to make oil changes more difficult.
I think the kid’s Irish.
Word to the wise, don’t leave valuables laying around while you’re looking after this one.
If that Toyota has a four berator car barrel and a posi-action traction axle then my guess is that piece that fell off is your ka-knute-in valve cover. Better get it put back on quick or all your ka-knute-ins will fall out.
Now, if you don’t know what a plastic skid plate looks like, you expect me to believe you could recognize a muffler thrush bearing?
;)
If it moves or falls off and it's not supposed to, use the duct tape. If it's supposed to move and doesn't, use the WD-40.
Thus these two products solve all problems.
It is a red golden retriever. Watch the little bitch - mine ate the siding off of the house.

You may have something there, I found twenty dollars missing form my wallet last night, could be I dropped it.
Today I come home from work and a root canal looking for some scotch, where the ---- is the scotch.
There she is sleeping on the floor. Hmmm, didn't they have a crib for this kid?
