Are you ~sure~ a car payment isn't a better option? Just askin'. You've put a lot of time and money into this van (and a good bit of mileage).

Of course, I just dropped $1,000 on a used cat...

I’m starting to ponder that. But on the other hand, I’ve really only taken it in for work once or twice a year at most during the entire over-five-years I’ve owned it. And a lot of what’s getting done today is replacing parts that they generally recommend doing at 100k. It’s at 125k. So I guess it’s not out of the realm of the reasonable.

Even a really cheap used car is likely to be more than a hundred bucks a month. And there’s no guarantee it won’t need repairs on top of that.

I come from a background where we typically drove cars until they completely wore out...so I dunno when it’s reasonable to move on. :-\
