That was a definite Two-Thumbs Up episode.

It was accidental, honest.

Is it OK if I do?

Hm...Cisco hasn’t moved from the couch since I’ve been home...I’m not sure if this behavior will last, though...

Yup :~)

I’m still trying to get Tweek to come in the house. She’s being a strumpet. Hopefully she’ll come in before you come.

Very romantical. And I must confess that the overall romantical arc between those two is one of my favorites. The other one that I love is Bernard and Rose.

*sigh*

Yep! I’ve seen that before.

I don’t know if it still does, but I understood that when they dyed the chicks and ducks for Easter, it sterilized them so that hens couldn’t lay eggs.

Easter is a pretty sad time of year for friends of the chicken. People buy their kids a half a dozen baby chicks and if the chick survives the death grip of a toddler, it doesn’t usually grow up to have the best life. Some end up at the shelter and usually the shelter folks know people to call to come get them. If they’re roosters, their fate is pretty much sealed.

Dyed chickens is going out of style, I think.

I remember as a kid that the “dime store” would sell dyed chicks for Easter. I have a vague memory of playing with the bright orange and green ones that my brother and I got.

That was back when my grandfather still had a chicken coop. I don’t remember what happened to them. But I’m fairly certain if they survived our “death grip” that not long after, we ate ‘em.

Heh...

You know...I absolutely love toads and frogs. When I was a kid, I played with them all the time. (Growing up in the balmy area south of Houston, there were lots of toads and frogs.) I have a fond place in my heart for them.

I remember when Matthew was about 18 months old, we were living on the river and I found a frog. I couldn’t wait to show it to him and I handed it to him.

To my absolute horror he squeezed it’s guts out.

Live and learn.

Maybe I just grew up in too much of a suburb but I do’t know anyone who ever got baby chicks for Easter. There were a couple homeschool types who had chickens but that was a whole chicken operation, not a baby chick thing.

My brother won a duck at the fair when he was a teenager.

I got up first thing in the morning and walked into the bathroom and much to my astonishment, there was a duckling in the tub.

I thought I wasn’t quite awake yet and was dreaming. Heh!

We ended up giving it to a guy we knew out in the country that had a pond and it actually did very well. I used to ride the guy’s horse and check on the duck.

I’ll have ducks someday...if I ever have a bit of land with a pond.
