The Hobbit Hole XXXV - ...is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

Posted on 01/03/2008 6:35:58 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

I have no idea. I asked him what he said, cause I heard him say something and he said he asked “What’s with all the banging?” I guess he wasn’t too curious because he went back to sleep.

I looked out the front door but nobody was there. You could see their footprints on the front step where they’d walked through the wet grass, though.

Evening - just got off the phone with my shooting buddy, who unlike me, spent the afternoon at therange. He shot a Sig .357 this afternoon, just a magazine worth, but he was impressed. Hot round. He shoots wheelguns and semi-autos interchangably. He’s a good shot. He was heading to the reloading bench afterwards.

Sounds like you have your rig set up the way you like.

Best I can tell, the tetra sleeps with the fishes.

And I just put Sam back on Rimadyl.

That’s what I sat on for 12 hours.

One of my trips to the hospital 2 years ago I had to stay on one of those things for three full days, till a room opened up in the ICU. Do not have an emergency trip to the hospital in Florida in winter. When the snowbirds are here, there is no room at the inn!

Am I still a “snowbird”? I’ve been here for 7 1/2 years.

Snowbirds go north every spring, back to Florida in the winter. If you stay here most of the time you are a Yankee in north Florida, otherwise you are a typical Floridian (moved here from someplace else). In my area, I am a Floridian to some, and a Yankee to others. By the way, I am watching TV tonight, and am trying to decide between a new show on Discovery about the prospect for cloning dinosaurs, featuring a famous paleontologist, and part two of the 1995 miniseries 'Pride and Prejudice' on PBS (for you ladies. this is the Colin Firth version). Any advice?

Well, we recommend Dexter, it’s off beat and quirky, good characters and excellent character development. Voice over narration in parts is very well done, not annoying like it often is. Subject matter might be too intense for our younger viewers, i.e. kids.

Give Sam a hug from us. Gypsy waves paw and says for Sam to get well soon.

Very nice color, you’re quite the painter. What room is next? Got the sidewalks, driveway and cars all cleaned off. You were correct, what a slushy mess.

I should do the kitchen/dining room next....and then probably repaint the living room. But then spring planting should be coming up soon (I hope I hope I hope.)

Thanks. I just noticed him limping today. He just seems a little sore/stiff.

I’m sooo glad I have mydog to protect me...

I just let him out, and he started barking and growling and carrying on, which he like to never does, so I went out to check. The problem? A plastic bag had blown into the yard and against the fence. Scaaary. Good thing he was there to tell it off...

Meanwhile, people argue over by the coffee place all the time, and he ignores them. Ditto the many cats and other such critters that show up from time to time.

I’m afraid my dog may be a moron. Just maybe.

Heh... ya think?

We hear some of the arguments at the coffee place too. Are they just customers who come to argue over espresso? Or are they related to the workers at the stand?

People come to argue in our driveway too... I think it's a popular breakup place.

I think the gals that work there often have other friends that hang out, and ex-boyfriends stop by and what-not. It’s a soap opera, I’m tellin’ ya. Also folks like to break up over by the store. Or that’s what it sounds like, anyhow. Who knows why?

We agree, spring planting/transplanting will help out a lot. We still have some wallpapering to do and what not but we would rather be out in the sunshine and playing in the dirt and it isn’t going to happen this week or next, is it?

I bought some herb seeds yesterday. It’s too early here, too...but I’m going to get a few pots and start ‘em indoors.

I want fresh basil, durnit!
