I did hear on Fox &FRiends this morning that one of the brothers attempted to get into a cafe, once the tiger was on the loose.

The people in the cafe were under lockdown because they thought up to 4 tigers were loose, and refused to open the door for him.

Let's face it. The Zoo did everything wrong...from saying they had a couple of nuts on their hands to stopping the police from entering...and it's all documented.

But the whole case comes down to: "A tiger (which had mauled someone the year before) escaped from a facility that was inadequate to start with".

The tiger has an early history, too:

"Even as a cub, Tatiana was noted for her "quick tempered" personality compared to her more mellow siblings".

I believe rumor & personal opinion have taken precedence over facts.

Zoo personnel dispatch now say there are two males who the zoo thinks ... are 800 (code for mentally disturbed) and making something up ... but one is in fact bleeding from the back of the head,” according to a police log entry at 5:10 p.m.

Geragos acknowledged the brothers were frantic and visibly shaken when they tried to report what happened. “They say they were acting crazy. ... I don’t know how one is supposed to act after being attacked by a tiger,” Geragos said.

By the time fire officials arrived at the scene at 5:12 p.m., they already knew a tiger was on the loose. Fire crews were told that zoo security had called a “Code One, meaning they can’t let anyone into the zoo,” according to the fire log.

The medical crews were let in under police escort, and by 5:20 p.m. they found Sousa’s body, according to police dispatch logs.

After reporting the incident at the cafe and to the guard, the brothers were attacked again by the tiger as they were waiting outside the cafe for someone to help. Geragos said it was about 45 minutes from the time the three young men were first attacked until help finally arrived.

Only the one that died qualifies. And as stupid as he was, at least he was trying to help the other two guys. They are the ones who should have paid the price.

Worth repeating:

If in fact they did provoke the animal then the saddest thing is the tiger that was shot and killed for doing what any animal would do and most people also would do. She did not deserve to die for acting like the animal she was.

I have absolutely no sympathy for the boy killed or the ones injured should the provoking of these animals be proved.

For what it is worth, I have not seen one other media source confirm the New York Post’s report regarding a slingshot being used. I still believe it’s true, though.

Why were they the first zoo user in 65 years to be attacked, unprovoked?

After shooting the board of directors of the Zoo for failure to hire a competent administrator, and, most importantly, after shooting the major donors for not having contributed enough money to build a safe enclosure.

Right?

You Said - “Sounds like the police showed up 5 minutes too soon. What a shame.”

My Reply - your comment is absolutely disgusting. No human being deserves to be eaten by a tiger no matter what he has done. In this case the man-eating tiger got exactly what it deserved - A bullet. If only it had been shot after the first incident where it attacked its keeper.

You Said - “ would also like to see the police officers who killed the tiger fired pronto.”

My Reply - You have got to be kidding. Those police officers shot a tiger which they found in the process of mauling a human being. This Tiger then came towards them. They had every right and a strong duty to kill this tiger. What is wrong with everyone that so many people have any sympathy for this Tiger which killed a person and recieved what it deserved - a bullet.

Is there a PA system in the zoo?? Did they use it?

I read earlier that it was out of service due to prior complaints about its disturbing residents near the zoo, so could not be used to warn visitors of the danger.

And taken with a grain of salt.

While speculation persists about the victims' potential contribution to the attack, the media are focusing more on the height of the wall outside of the tiger grotto's moat. Is it built to the height of the recommended standards of the 21st century? Of course not. It is 67 years old. And in all those years, not one tiger has escaped. Indeed, experts say that around the world thousands of tigers are kept in enclosures of roughly the same height, and they don't escape.

I wonder how often in those 67 years did a tiger chew off the arm of a zoo keeper?

Mess with the bull, get the horns. If these thugs were shooting the tiger with a slingshot, it’s a damn shame the tiger didn’t finish the job and cleanse the human gene pool.

quote: "But my position is that if I am taking my family to the zoo, I want the tiger locked up even if there are boys taunting it."

That is my feeling exactly. I don't care if these boys were taunting the animal, it shouldn't be able to get out no matter what. If I took my kids to the zoo I would not want to hear that the tigers can't escape unless they are provoked. Hell, some idiot is bound to do that sooner or later. Once out, this cat might have turned on anyone. What kind of security do they have there? Can kids with slingshots pepper all the animals with acorns?

How would you like to live next door to a prison, knowing that their security is "strong enough to contain the most violent inmate... unless he is provoked."

I wanted to vomit hearing Mark Geragos is representing them. I have no respect for him.
