Seriously. Who, in the NFL, decided that Bryant Bumble would be a popular sports broadcaster? If we wanted even more arrogance and name-dropping with our football, they could have teamed him with Deion Sanders for the whole night. Gah! Did you see the pimp suit they allowed him to wear?

Gumbel is the poster child for “affirmative action,” proof positive that standards and quality take a back seat.

Just a guess, but I’ll go with a self-hating, white liberal progressive residing within 25 miles of the Empire State Building.

I’ve seen Gumbel on other NFL network broadcasts and thought he had dumped the arrogance. I really didn’t give it much of a thought, but when I TiVoed the game, I chose WCVB, channel five because it was reported (incorrectly) that they would use their own local announcers, while CBS and NBC would just have the NFL network feed.

I always thought the announcers were the weakest part of the NFL network, the match ups have mostly been second rate as well. The network has not taken off and Gumbel seems to be eating a big portion of [well deserved] humble pie.
