There were obviously a lot of other keepers around the tiger ......and yet it didn't attack them. Why?
IMHO,it probably has been "testing" its keepers all along to see how the humans would react and see if it could challege it. If an tiger thinks of humans as another predator, either they (humans) are potentially harmful or it could intimidate them (humans) for control of this territory. Conversely if it sees them (humans) as prey it will look for opportunities to take down that potential food source. As it matured an tiger will act upon the instincts nature has honed in it for survival over millions of years. Happens in nature. Happens in zoos and if you have pets it happens in your own home.
Eventually an opportunity opened up and it took full advance of a simple but deadly moment of inattentiveness of its keepers, gap in cage, reacted quicker than expected, was too near an open door, portal etc. The list is endless.
Humans made mistakes because, well they're humans.

And your point is again?
Yes, tigers are dangerous. Yes, they are constantly looking for ways to harm other creatures around them. No, they should not be put down in a zoo situation when one of it’s keepers makes a mistake.
