Ann Coulter Wins Voter Complaint Issue

By: Newsmax StaffConservative pundit Ann Coulter has been cleared of charges she violated election laws by voting in the wrong precinct in a February 2006 election in Palm Beach, Fla.According to an investigation by the Florida Elections Commission, Coulter voted in Precinct 1196 at St. Edwards Catholic Church, while she should have voted in Precinct 1198 at The Episcopal Church of Bethesda-by-the-Sea.
Coulter had lived in a home in Precinct 1196 during the winter of 2005. She moved into her Precinct 1198 home in March 2005, but gave the elections office the Precinct 1196 address when she registered to vote in June of that year, according to the Palm Beach Daily News.
In the February 2006 election, Coulter initially went to the Bethesda polling place to vote. A poll worker told her to fill out a change of address form, saying the address listed on the workers computer was within the St. Edwards precinct.
Instead, Coulter asked where she would vote under that address. She was given the St. Edwards location, and she went there to cast her ballot.
Although [Coulter] should have followed the directions of poll worker Jim Whited when she attempted to vote in Precinct 1198, there is no evidence that she willfully violated [Florida election laws] when she voted in Precinct 1196, according to an order signed by Commission General Counsel Charles Finkel.
As Newsmax reporter earlier, Coulter whose latest book is If Democrats Had Any Brains, Theyd Be Republicans has had the local property appraiser remove her home address from public records after she received several written and telephone messages from abusive strangers. A state law exempts harassment or stalking victims from public records laws.
