Tennessee lost to Cal who lost to Stanford and Tennessee beat Vanderbilt by only 1 point. Stanford who beat Cal who themselves beat Tennessee better than LSU did lost to Notre Dame. Notre Dame lost to Navy. Navy lost to Delaware. So clearly Delaware belongs in the BCS Championship Game.
“Hawaii won with their backup QB playing games, they don’t use a Bradford got hurt excuse for Brennan. They never lost. They beat Boise State who beat Oklahoma in a bowl game last year.”
Last season is last season.
“An undefeated team deserves to play in the BCS Championship Game.”
Not necessarily so. But it is interesting that you would mention this. Did you watch the BCS show yesterday? Part of the discussion was the difference between ‘deserves’ and the ‘best team’ and how that would affect the selection.
In effect, if you believe the regular season won/loss is the most important then the two best won/loss records ‘deserve’ to be in the BCS championship game. Of course, if you accept this, then unless two teams have the same record, there is no need for a championship game. This year we would just aclaim Hiwaii the national champion.
The other method would be to figure out which two teams are the ‘best teams’. The consensus of the panel last night seemed to be that OU was the ‘best team’ in the nation.
Most people flip/flop between these two methods depending upon which is most favorable to their school.
If you use the ‘deserve’ method, then Hawaii’s ability to win with a backup is important. If you use the ‘best team’ then OU’s loss without Bradford is not nearly as important.

With a little research, I’m sure you could elevate any team to the championship use this method.
