I was nineteen when I took my longest-yet driving excursion: Michigan to DC; DC to Los Angeles, taking a north-central route, then LA back to MI on a south-central route. Most of what I saw was absolutely amazing. Unfortunately, I had time constraints. I needed to be in LA for a christening, so I did the DC to LA leg in just three days. Then, I had to be back in MI for school, so the trip home was four days long.
I can't wait until my kids are a bit older. I want to make an entire summer out of it. For now, we're all content to keep discovering parts of Michigan we've never seen before.
AND! You got 2200!!!
W00t!
Yep, this country is nothing if not diverse in scenery. I think lots of it is extremely breath-taking, but very little of it is where I’d like to live. I’ve lived in enough different parts of it to know I’m where I need to be. :o])
At least a few weeks! When I was 12, my father outfitted our VW bus for camping (slept everyone but me -- I got a tent) and we took several weeks, driving south to Chattanooga (where my grandparents lived) then west to New Mexico, Arizona, Disneyland, then north to Seattle (my only memory of that was a freeway rest stop -- very green and heavy rain, actually unusual that time of year, I've learned since), then east along the upper border to Wisconsin (to visit my aunt), then a ferry across Lake Michigan towards home.
That ferry ride was amazing, by itself. Hours and hours with no sight of land.
I’ve never been to Michigan.
