For a while, I was off the Internet, no thanks to the provider.

I’m back for now...very cold. It was 29 when I woke up this morning. *shiver*

Howya! 50’s here, and it rained. Baby wouldn’t take his nap. I hope he’ll go to be early - we need to practice for the Spanish Mass.

OldTax-lady is visiting tomorrow, so I’ll be off most of the day. She refuses to see the snake, though.

It looks like a spectacular scene straight from a fairy tale

And you thought I was kidding about having bent icicles.

I clicked your link, and was given this......sounds good, BTW.

Chili with Corn Dumplings
Ingredients:
1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
3/4 cup chopped onion
1 can (15.25 ounces) whole kernel corn
1 can (16 ounces) stewed tomatoes, undrained
1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
2 tablespoons chili powder
1 teaspoon red pepper sauce
1 1/3 cups Original Bisquick® mix
2/3 cup cornmeal
2/3 cup milk
2 to 4 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro or parsley, if desired

1. Cook beef and onion in Dutch oven over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until beef is brown; drain. Reserve 1/2 cup of the corn. Stir remaining corn with liquid, tomatoes, tomato sauce, chili powder and pepper sauce into beef mixture. Heat to boiling; reduce heat. Cover and simmer 15 minutes.

2. Mix Bisquick mix and cornmeal. Stir in milk, cilantro and reserved 1/2 cup corn just until moistened.

3. Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls onto simmering chili. Cook uncovered over low heat 10 minutes. Cover and cook 10 minutes longer or until dumplings are dry.

Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls onto simmering chili. Cook uncovered over low heat 15 minutes. Cover and cook 15 to 18 minutes longer.

Nice ice! (Glad I’m not there ...)

We'd have icicles on our icicles!

Found it! :-)

Bent Icicles

My house has bent icicles,
We’ve had some wind today,
It’s like some ice-age carnivore,
That seeks to hold its prey.

Nature isn’t nurturing,
That seeks to tear and rend.
Those icy fangs are scaring me.
It is a biting wind.

I’ll venture out, quite soon I guess,
They don’t scare me that much.
Even though they’re growing longer,
And sharper to the touch.

I have something I have to do,
It seems compelling now.
I’m hoping later that I won’t,
Regret it all somehow.

The imagery may seem quite bleak,
So stark in black and white.
It’s warmer in the daylight though,
At least it isn’t night.

And how much could it bother me?
I’m big and strong, and tough.
Those frigid fangs of winter,
Though dripping, are a bluff.

They cannot really hurt me,
It is a threat display.
I stand up straight and say these words,
“Can I stay home today?”

I have one thing consoling me,
When I walk out the door.
I’m not the sweetest person,
I’m salty at my core.

My warmth will not win me a friend,
Out in the frozen waste.
I’ve got this big, old ugly coat,
It will not like my taste.

I guess you wonder what it is,
I’m trekking out there for.
I found out that I’m running low,
There’s birdseed at the store.

We had rain today. Only about 1/10”, but this is the 4th or 5th time in the last two weeks.

I hope this means the county won’t pass more water restrictions for a while!

So that’s what I get for taking a nap...

But my turkey is done, after seven hours. Moist white meat. VERY!

Tell Old Tax-Lady that she doesn’t have to see the snake. I said so!

Here’s hoping Vlad goes to sleep early, and gives you a break!

That was really something!

You can sure tell which way the wind blows. In TX, it bends the trees...I guess in Canada, it bends the water.

He’s having a new Veggie Tale, and then he’ll go to bed. I’ve told Tom (and I’ll keep telling him!) not to bother Mom about the snake, even though it’s his Christmas present and he’s terribly excited about it. She doesn’t like rodents or reptiles!

Sigh. Looked at the timetable and realized I have to start the planning for the trip to India in February NOW.

Maybe Tom just needs to know Old Tax-Lady has lived long enough that she knows what she doesn’t like, and snakes are at the top of the list. ;o]

Perhaps if he just told her how excited he is about it, without the “show” part...?

LOL. From the link....this winter wonderland is actually situated on the east shore of Lake Michigan in the United States.

It's a few weeks before the day after tomorrow. Or maybe not.

I only cooked it today because I had thawed it. I’m not really hungry for it, and will take some to my daughter tomorrow. She’s going to do my nails. Finally!

But the turkey is good! Not a big one, but a good one!
