Undoubtedly! ;D

Least expected? Yeah....sure!

Welcome home! Im glad youre back! Youve really been missed.
(How well do you read/translate German?) Thanks! I am glad to be back, though Vienna was a very nice city, even in the Seattle-like weather that had the locals complaining up a storm. (A bit of Glühwein or Weihnachtspunsch would go really well right now, though it would probably put me out for the night!)
I can read quite well, as long as it's within my limited vocabulary. *\;-) Actually I can read somewhat beyond that if the topics are basic. My ability to read & speak increased during this trip, which is not surprising that at times it was "total immersion." What did surprise me was finding a waitress at the airport who had no Englisch.

"You;ve GOT to tell me how the grandkids and other little ones respond to the description of the snowmen eating the elves with their icicle teeth."
Bent Icicles
My house has bent icicles,
We've had some wind today,
It's like some ice-age carnivore,
That seeks to hold its prey.
Nature isn't nurturing,
That seeks to tear and rend.
Those icy fangs are scaring me.
It is a biting wind.
I'll venture out, quite soon I guess,
They don't scare me that much.
Even though they're growing longer,
And sharper to the touch.
I have something I have to do,
It seems compelling now.
I'm hoping later that I won't,
Regret it all somehow.
The imagery may seem quite bleak,
So stark in black and white.
It's warmer in the daylight though,
At least it isn't night.
And how much could it bother me?
I'm big and strong, and tough.
Those frigid fangs of winter,
Though dripping, are a bluff.
They cannot really hurt me,
It is a threat display.
I stand up straight and say these words,
"Can I stay home today?"
I have one thing consoling me,
When I walk out the door.
I'm not the sweetest person,
I'm salty at my core.
My warmth will not win me a friend,
Out in the frozen waste.
I've got this big, old ugly coat,
It will not like my taste.
I guess you wonder what it is,
I'm trekking out there for.
I found out that I'm running low,
There's birdseed at the store.

Ah. Ser gut!
My son wants me to do something for him, but I have to start with a German website, and I need to be able to “read” it well enough to get what he wants. I think he and I together can only order, “Ein bier, bitte! Filetstek mit Kreuterbutter und brot mit butter!”

I think my computer is trying to tell me to go to bed. I’ve had to reboot twice in the last 20 minutes.
I’ll have something fun in the morning...perhaps...some eggnog may help my muse....

While I hate to refer folks to Google, if from the main page you click on the Language Tools link, you get a page where you can copy/type in German text and get an English translation. It is not perfect, but works surprisingly well -- especially if you already have some German, even if rusty.
I am going to have to go now. Am so tired I can't stay any longer. Auf weiderschreiben...

She actually did a pretty good job of it. It’s short now, but after the stylist even up the front a bit, it’s kind of cute...
