They’ll lie about it to their graves. The facts are already well known. An alien in his acorn/bell shaped craft lost power or control somehow and crashed in the forest at a relatively slow speed. When it came out it was shot by some law enforcement person. The OSI was involved as well as the military. They then sent the body and craft to Wright Patterson AB, and we all know about what happens there from the Roswell incident.
Anyway, this and other similar incidents gave rise to the X Files as second hand accounts(hollywood filter)of true stories. I feel sorry for that alien, crash landing on a planet(any landing you can walk away from is a good one)and then being shot/killed out of fear by the locals. Doesn’t say much for the kind of peaceful and intelligent people that we THINK we are...and aliens refer to us as “apes with guns”....with good reason....
Either you have seen a UFO or you have not.
Once you have, well, you tend to believe in them...
