Based on what's out so far, that would have to be my best guess: a shakedown. Her failure to complain to the Bahamian police at the time means that there is probably no evidence aside from her word.

The Bahamas dragged its feet and did everything possible not to investigate the death of Anna Nicole Smith's son Daniel who apparently was murdered. The inquest has been put off and off. Maybe the complaining victim noticed how this was handled and read of the alleged bribes and thus decided she would have no chance when accusing somebody as rich as David Copperfield.
He may or may not be guilty. He strikes me as more of a nerd than a rapist.
