Steve Jobs and Apple lean left? Well knock me over with a feather.

Yeah, unlike that arch-conservative Bill Gates, who spends his free time hanging out with Bill Clinton and Bono.

Just about every pioneer in desktop computers was a hippie at heart. That was the driving force -- power to the people. Take computers, once the exclusive franchise of big companies, and give them to everyone.

Well, Michael Dell and Carly Fiorina are Republicans, but other than that, Silicon Valley seems to either lean to the left or toward libertarianism for some. While Jobs is generally a lib, he isn’t a bleeding heart one. While he featured Gore on Apple’s front page (Gore is on the board, so it’s about sucking up to one of the company’s main figures) he did blow off Greenpeace and the teacher’s unions over the last few months.
