I doubt it. This was Anna Nicole’s neighbor on Hartsook. A little story I saved about the incident:

LOS ANGELES - Three people who exhibited acts of heroism and bravery were honored today by District Attorney Steve Cooley during the Courageous Citizen Awards Ceremony sponsored by the Rotary Club of Pasadena.

The honorees were a North Hollywood man who was injured when he came to the aid of his celebrity neighbor, Anna Nicole Smith; an 8-year-old girl who witnessed her stepfather’s fatal shooting and helped police catch the suspect; and a Cypress man who helped police track down suspects in a Covina bank robbery in which several people were injured in the bank.

The District Attorney’s Office created the Courageous Citizen Award in 1985 to commend those individuals who have acted at considerable personal risk to help a victim of crime, assist in the capture of a suspect, or testify in the face of extraordinary pressures.

The ceremony was held at the Pasadena Hilton, International Room, 168 S. Robles Ave. The awards were presented to recipients nominated by deputy district attorneys.

Rene Navarro, North Hollywood
When Rene, 59, came to the aid of neighbor - actress Anna Nicole Smith - after an ex-boyfriend arrived at her apartment and claimed to have a gun, he was severely beaten. The assailant had heaved a large cinder block over his head and threatened to kill him when Rene informed him that if he did so he would go to prison for the rest of his life. The suspect put down the cinder block and fled. The defendant, Mark Hatten, was tried and convicted for assault and making criminal threats. ...”
