2000 - Canadian rock group the Matthew Good Band is the big winner at the MuchMusic Video Awards, Canada's annual music video competition. The Vancouver, British Columbia-based group collects prizes for best rock video and best video for its "Load Me Up" single.

2000 - Phil Collins, Mike Rutherford, and Tony Banks reform as Genesis for a one-off performance at the London Hilton during the British Music Roll of Honour gala, organized by the Music Managers Forum. The act's manager, Tony Smith receives the Peter Grant Award for outstanding achievement at the event.

1999 - Trent Reznor's Nine Inch Nails earns the first No. 1 in its career, as "The Fragile" debuts at the top of The Billboard 200, easily outpacing all other competitors in a market crowded with new releases.

1999 - "Reverb," HBO's live music show, debuts with performances from Alanis Morissette and Everlast.

1998 - It is announced that Madonna enrolled her daughter, Lourdes Ciccone, at Cheltenham Ladies College, an exclusive British private school. The boarding school, founded in 1853, has a reputation for strict discipline, ranks amongst the top ten schools in England and charges $22,650 per year.

1997 - Ricky Skaggs, Junior Brown, Guy Clark, Iris DeMent, Steve Earle, Jimmie Dale Gilmore and John Prine perform a concert as part of "Waiting for a Train: Jimmie Rodgers' America," a week-long centennial celebration of the "Singing Brakeman."

1996 - The audience at the Grand Ole Opry witness a historic moment when 23-year-old Hank Williams III, son of Hank Williams Jr. and grandson of country music legend Hank Williams makes his Opry debut. Hank III wears a black western shirt trimmed with green fringe that belonged to his grandfather. His set includes "Moanin' the Blues," a 1950 chart-topper for Hank Sr., and "Lovesick Blues," the same song his granddad performed for his Opry debut in June 1949.

1993 - Nirvana's album "In Utero" is released.

1983 - No. 1 Billboard Pop Hit: ``Tell Her About It,'' Billy Joel. The video features Joel performing the song on ``The Ed Sullivan Show.''

1972 - No. 1 Billboard Pop Hit: ``Baby Don't Get Hooked on Me,'' Mac Davis.

1968 - Rapper Trugoy the Dove of De La Soul is born.

1961 - No. 1 Billboard Pop Hit: ``Take Good Care of My Baby,'' Bobby Vee. The song was written by Gerry Goffin and Carole King.

1947 - Don Felder of the Eagles is born in Topanga, Calif.

1934 - Leonard Cohen is born in Montreal.

Thanks for the link to the beautiful voice (and just plain beautiful) of Amy Lee.

I heard this song on the radio for the first time recently, even though it's been out for a single for about a year. I really like it. The video is kind of generic though.

The Japanese Beyonce?

That was kind of cool. I like the way she mixed Japanese and English lyrics. I only understood: "Word Up" and "Drive Me Crazy" and "Kick My Booty".

I really liked this song. I don't know what they're singing about but it's really catchy.
