Yes it is - we have LOM on tape, may have to get it on disc. I’ve got the cassette tape of the sound track, too. That is a very well made movie (historical inaccuracies aside) that is a visual treat. Not many movies that recent can stand up to repeated viewings like that one can; LOTR being in that category as well.
Okay...I needz help.
Luke wants a Star Wars lunchbox for school. Since, of course no Star Wars movie was released this year, they’re not in stores (you would have thought with the 30th anniversary they’d put ‘em out).
Anyway, I’ve found them new with tags on eBay, but have lost two auctions so far ‘cause I’m not willing to pay $40 for a lunch box. I’d probably push it to $25. But that’s about it.
Thoughts? Suggestions?
Well, the senior moment passed, we do have it on disc and there are numerous additional scenes.
In 1972 PBS had a rather lengthy Last of the Mohicans miniseries, ran about 8 hours as I recall. Naturally technically it couldn’t touch the movie, but is considered the most authentic dramatic presentation of the novel. There was very heavy rewriting in all of the shorter movies, simplifying the story, and switching romantic stories. Just two examples — Hawkeye has no romantic interests and Cora Munro was 1/4 black.
Sam Clemens famously hated the stories, because he did not like the older literary style of Cooper, and because Cooper did not hate all Indians. It is likely that he was not too happy about Cora’s race either.
