The Hobbit Hole XXXIV - But better than rain or rippling streams...
Posted on 08/07/2007 7:52:15 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

It was too wide to do side-by-side, but this is fascinating.

Aww, I just tried it... Win2K says I have to have Active Desktop activated, and I don't. :-(
To: Ramius
can you animate it on the desktop?

It makes a killer desktop gif. Just put it on tile.Holy carp! I put it on my 1280x1024 desktop, tiled, and it's absolutely awesome. Even with a 2.4GHz CPU, it has to be eating up a lot of cycles.

Aww, man... I had my
EVIL! post ready to go, and I got spammed and missed it.
To: Corin Stormhands
It animates in XP, though you have to go through the desktop properties and select it as a gif file. If you just right-click in IE and save as the background it just grabs a frame.
Or, as Bear said, in 2000 you have to have active desktop enabled. Brain is fuzzy but I think active desktop is always on in XP. Might be wrong about that.

On your desktop, right click, select "Properties", then the "Background" tab. Click the "Browse" button, browse to the GIF file and select it. System will tell you the file needs Active Desktop to display as a background, and ask you if you want that.

OK, what did you do to make it work? 'Cause it ain't workin' for Rose.
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
I did what you said.
First thing I did was go to “customize desktop” and browse for it and put it in as new. That put it on the desk top, but wouldn’t let me tile it.
Then I just went back to the regular settings and uploaded and tiled it there.
I think something I did under the customize website actually activated it.

Surely this is a sign of the end times.

Heh, yeah, I was teasing Rose about that.
I booted my system to XP (I've got a dual-boot system, Win2K and XP), selected the image as the background, and it worked right off the bat. On Rose's system, it displays, but isn't animated.
We think the video driver on her system isn't allowing it to animate, for whatever reason.
