The Hobbit Hole XXXIV - But better than rain or rippling streams...

Posted on 08/07/2007 7:52:15 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

After a great Christmas Dinner we took Gypsy for our walk. Temperature was nearly 50 so was quite pleasant. She seemed ready for her nap when got home so it seemed only right that we did the same.

It was warm, or at least warm for December here too. It was my eighth straight green Christmas.

Having snow on Christmas isn’t all that common here either, but it isn’t green. :-) Trees are bare, grass is brown. We’ve got plenty of redcedar trees in the neighborhood and yew bushes in our yard, so there is a bit of green.

Well, good Christmas afternoon everyone!

We're home from the beach house, and a great Christmas was had by all... ecurbh got a VERY large knife I'll have to take a picture of for WinMag... it's a small machete actually, I think good for packing along on his saddle for clearing trail if needed. And a HUGH spotlight that I think will turn night into day if we hear nightly noises in the pasture. Waiting now for it to get dark enough to play with it.

Big knife... Big spotlight, and roadside first aid kit put together by Ramius... good stuff :~D

And check this out! :~)

Other than that, we got our own carpet shampooer, and several other things, like Dona socks... she finds the best softest socks I've ever seen. :~) And the dogs got plenty of treats and new toys, Gidget is having a hard time settling on which she'd like to play with :~)

Very nice. Snow is good for Christmas but it’s kind of a pain the rest of the winter.

Just the ones from Talon, so far. I’ll see other photographer-family members on New Year’s Day, and the Official pics are supposed to be available on-line by the end of this week.

Heh. My coconut cake came out. Yippee!! I get paranoid about the cake and those egg white frostings. It held together long enough to get the nephews’ seal of approval.

Congratulations!! I’ve heard those egg white frostings are a bear to get right, but, dang, they are delicious. LSA

Got any dogs around? Dogs like egg yolks as a meal topper.
