The Hobbit Hole XXXIV - But better than rain or rippling streams...

Posted on 08/07/2007 7:52:15 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

We sure do - plus extra kitty litter in the vehicles as part of our traction enhancement equipment. Non-clumpy kitty litter is better for traction.

Morning - Yellow face is out. That’s a bit of a surprise, still brisk. We’ll be untarping and unthawing the vehicles in a bit. sip. Need more coffee first.

Two sets of cat tracks in the snow this morning. One cutting across the driveway to the front stoop and the regular set coming down the sidewalk and across as usual. Poor kitty(s) left out in the cold!

Sip - got the cars untarped and cleaned up. Bunny tracks from under the Highlander over to the front porch. Sip.

Poor Kitties, that was a rotten day/night to be out.

Heh. My own spoiled rotten kitty is snoozing quite nicely at the moment.

Kitty killed the thread!

Well I got the driveway cleared. I think I need to upgrade the shovel.

The Thread is just resting actually, just like the kittens today.

Upgraded snow shovel - Craftsman lawn and garden tractor with snow plow attachement or a full size John Deere?

Heh. Right now I’d trade up to one with a metal blade. I’ve got one of those cheapie plastic blades and I’ve rounded the corners off.

...or maybe I should just go ahead and get the driveway re-paved.

Third option is to let the sun melt the snow.

To: osagebowman

Well....yeah. Unless I had to go someplace first thing in the morning and if the snowmelt didn’t refreeze overnight.

I guess I could have just left it since it was only an inch or so deep and my driveway is short and relatively level.

Not many around to talk since Rosie and the Talons are traveling and the XGIs are well...newlyweds...

We’re cleaning and cooking. I was all smug about how well we were doing this year. Just one more limited trip to the grocery and we’re done. Then wife reminded me that Sister Mary Hamburner and her husband and mother-in-law will be here for dinner...tonight. I hadn’t calculated on entertaing before Tuesday.

Oops

Well, there is that. Wouldn’t do to get stuck in driveway at 0 dark thirty tomorrow morning. I’ve heard the lines will be much more manageable tomorrow as opposed to Friday and Saturday. Direct flight?

At least you have company, unless it’s the kind of “company” you don’t want.

Yep. Direct flight. I’d hate to have to put Miss Cat through a delay in Chicago or Atlanta.

Hope the highways are as clear as the roads in Perfect Village. :)

Well, it was a good plan. A few extra plates and a couple extra spuds in the oven. Sounds doable.

Good call on the direct flight, just heard on the news, Chicago is still iffy.
