Been several years ago now... I only heard about it. The horse had died far enough from a road that getting a rendering truck or a backhoe in was not possible, no one wanted to quarter it up and pack it out, I don’t think, and they decided to just blow it up in place.
The biggest problem they thought was the fact that it would attract predators right to the trail where people and horses would be. They were quite concerned about bears just camping on it.
I’m told Bob went through a month later and it was like it had never been there. He wasn’t even real sure where it had been, he couldn’t tell.
I wonder where they stuck the dynamite. ;o)
