Today is new farrier day... appt is at 2 this afternoon. I’m as nervous as a first date.

Bay’s so overdue and run forward I’m ashamed to show him to the farrier, let alone take pics. But the farrier’s been warned, I even tried to see if he could possibly come sooner last week and he said he was just booked up. The shoes are only staying on by habit, the clenches are all wiggly loose.

Remarkably, in all the farting around with the fireworks, he’s still moving pretty good, though I’d never ride him like this.

The mares... well they’re chipped up, but they’re fine.

Good luck with the new farrier. I hope he works out for you.

We had a heck of a storm, yesterday evening. Power was out for 8 hours, from 6 pm to 2 am. Fairgrounds was out also and I bet the vendors were not too happy. I swear the land that fairgrounds is on, is jinxed.

I got Bob and Hope reshod yesterday evening. It had only been 7 weeks but their feet were really long and all the clinches were loose on them too. They clinked on the gravel every time they walked. I pulled the shoes off of Miss Whirl and trimmed her myself on Monday. Gonna see how she does in boots for a while and maybe barefoot later. She’ll fit into the Easyboots I’ve already got for Grace. They both wear 00. I did the same thing a few weeks back for Goose. I’ll have to buy him a couple of new ones though coz his feet are bigger. He’ll take an 0.
