Sounds like a fun trip. Throw on your tourist hat and do it up right while you’re there.
I got to go to SF for a week on business several years ago and had a blast. I was in a class during the day but every afternoon some of us got together and took a roadtrip and did the Total Nerdy Tourist thing. I went downtown and found Lombard Street and drove down it. That’s the steepest, crookedest street I’ve ever seen! Then went down to the Golden Gate Bridge and walked about half way across. Dang that thing is long! One day we went to Half Moon Bay. They rent horses to ride on the beach there. I didn’t get to do that though because the other folks didn’t ride but it was still fun. I just had to strip off my shoes and go stick my toes in the Pacific Ocean and let me tell ya, it’s a heck of a lot colder than the Atlantic. We went to Muir Woods one afternoon to see the Redwoods and Dang they’re big! We made it out to Nappa Valley one afternoon and did a winery tour. Then we drove down the coast road towards Santa Cruz another afternoon and visited a lighthouse. We were looking for whales or elephant seals on the beach but it wasn’t the right time of year. I also wanted to drive across all the bridges, especially the Golden Gate and the Bay Bridge, but made it across the San Mateo and the Richmond bridge too. San Quinten is out that way, but I didn’t really want any part of seeing that, other than from a distance. ;o) I would have liked to have toured Alcatraz and China Town too but there just wasn’t time.
I guess I’m just a hick from the sticks so all that kinda stuff just facinates me. I don’t get out very much so when I do I guess I think I gotta pull out all the stops. ;o)
I toured Alcatraz, and I definitely recommend it! Also the crooked street, have to do that... and ride streetcars :~)
Hubby amd I went there about 4 years ago and we did get to ride. It was pretty neat and the horses were not to barned sour, they were used to running on the beach so as soon as we hit the sand they wanted to open it up.
