Hi ladies.
Becky, it's good to hear from you. We've all been thinking about you here.
Well, all the horses are moved up to The New Place. I'm still keeping tabs on The Old Place at night because I live right around the corner and we still have some stuff there. One of the things that I have to do is put the chickens in for the night, because they won't be going up till this weekend. They go in for the night by themselves once it gets dark out, but I tried to cheat and get them in when it was just turning to dusk. They weren't going to have any of that, so I did some errands and came back when it was dark and sure enough, the little buggers were all bundled up in their hen house. Not a one was outside.
It's sad going to The Old Place when there are no horses there. It still smells like horse, and you expect them to all be in the barn, but when you go through... nothing. Part of me expects this to be like one giant field trip. Stupid, I know.

That’s the best time to move chickens too..at night, after they’ve settled into their coop. I don’t know how many you have, but you could put several in a large dog crate and move them like that.
They’re nearly blind in the dark, from what I understand, and become very docile. Keep the lights dim and you should be able to move them without any trouble.
Got your freepmail about the pennywhistle...I’m not very good at it, but I do really enjoy it! I have a bunch of cheap Feadogs and one very nice pvc one with a Corian fipple from Mac Hoover. They usually run around fifty dollars, I think...but Mr. Hoover gave this one to me. I love it dearly.
