It is about a foot thick. Six years of piling more bedding on top instead of stripping it like I shoulda. That’s the level it was at when I moved in.

Like I said, it’s an embarrassment. And it’s why I don’t like dirt floors. I want mats on it! And no bedding out there. It should just be a clean dry entry to the rest of the barn.

But don’t they like to lounge around out there too? Not having any bedding out there would kinda discourage that. But it guess it would discourage the peeing that the mares do to so there’s that.

We’re not here to judge :-) Does the barn have good drainage? I swear, horses are worse than cats when it comes to getting into your space when you’re trying to do something! And they aren’t as easy to swat out of the way, either.
