Aw MAN! There’s nothing nastier than a stopped-up septic system! I feel for ya. Did they have to dig up the yard or do you have an access port for your septic tank? They had to dig up our yard when we had to have it done and it was the biggest mess you’ve ever seen. Took forever to get the yard leveled back out. We haven’t had it done since we’ve lived where we are now and that’s been 3 years so I’m sure it’s just a matter of time before it happens to us. We should just go ahead and have somebody pump it, especially since my FIL owns the property. They say it will prolong the life of your field lines to have it done fairly often.

Yeah - yesterday was a rough day.

We brought out the roto rooter guy first, but it wasn’t a plug between the septic and the house. This drain field is weak, we know that. We’ve been limping it along since the last crisis about 5 years ago. And he said right now all the roots are really digging to try to find water, so root clogs are common now. Letting it dry out while the tank refills will hopefully help. Otherwise it’ll need some repair or replacement.

I hope it fixes itself.

The tank is actually out back, in the ‘wilds’, not in the lawn, so it doesn’t hurt anything when it’s dug up. We left the lids exposed now, actually. Just in case.

Then the power went out yesterday too, for about 20 minutes. It just wasn’t a good day for the basic infrastructure around here!
