Markie is OK. She has a 1 yo girl. Doesn't bother much with us. Not even holidays or birthdays. I can deal with it but her littler sisters don't do so well to be forgotten.
GTG...tissue box is calling.
Oh - well, I do hope she comes around. That’s too bad.
If you get ready to rebreed the mare, there's some REALLY nice RMH studs out there. They're about the only breed that's still bringing decent money these days. This one here...
Fairwind's Destiny, is really pretty. He's standing at a farm in Fayetteville, TN.
Just a good morning to let you all know I have been around, and like all the pictures:) Nothing special here to comment about.
Here's the pics from yesterday's progress... Pasture's pretty dried up already. But mowing it will tidy it up again, and get the poo spread to dry out at least.
This is as far as I got yesterday:
That much still to go!
I noticed that with some surprise! I also saw on the news that you all were having some really warm temps for your area. I was just commenting Sun. to a friend that I still have green grass growing because of all the rain. People around here are having to mow about twice a week.
DANG! Send some of that rain my way. We’re back to having a drought again! My pasture is crunchy.
We had one day with some almost thunderstorms that went through and rained a few minutes a couple weeks ago... but not enough to make a difference here, it’s so sandy here it was dry again an hour later.
I wouldn’t be surprised if we don’t get rain to speak of now till September. Maybe, but it’s a fluke. That’s pretty normal.
It’s been a little hot here but today through Friday it’s only supposed to get up to 78, and it’s a little cloudy, so I want to push to get this mowing DONE while it’s nice and cool.
Oh, and it’s good to hear from you again. Did the farrier finally come? Who were you getting shod, Harley or Rock?
You are right. That was amazing that it went that far away and crushed that car like that. Yuck! Glad we don’t have whales around here.
Thanks. Maybe we can get her put up early enough next year so that she stays black.
Just got a chance to look at all your video. Your horses are so beautiful and smart. I’m glad you found a good home for BamBam. Looks like you stay busy with them.
Now you’ve got my curiosity up and I can’t watch it ‘til I get home! :-p
Heh... “It is hoped that if a whale ever washes up in Lane County again, people will not only remember what to do, they’ll remember what NOT to do”
That cracks me up.
Alright... I’m done here, and headed out to mow. :~)
You'll never believe it, but Hal just called and said Mother wants to go with him to get Trouble shod. He doesn't think she knows how long it can take. I mentioned last night after I called LT (farrier) that he may not even be there because he was going to Russellville first and would be back "around" 1pm. Hal said that may mean 12 or it may mean 2 or 3pm. I told him to go ahead and take her. She can sit in his old stadium fold up chairs and play with the barn kittens. He said it would just be him and JCoan and my mama!!! I told him again how much I loved him!!
LOL!! John ought to be able to keep your Mama occupied for the rest of the afternoon. He can talk the ears off a mule. All Hal has to do is manage to keep his sanity through it all. ;o) It should be funny!
Just got a mental picture!!!!LOLOLOLOLOL
Yeah, the farrier came and shod Harley.
Sorry about the drought, I thought you all were out of that, and had been getting some rain.
We get like a half inch or less every week or 2. Just enough to make everything want more. It’s not near as bad as the last 2 years, but we are still very far behind the normal expected (needed).
Hal was taking Trouble, the new one, because he clipped the inside of his fetlocks and made them bleed when riding. The farrier said he could fix it, so it must not be unheard of. I put boots on them when we rode after he did it the first time and they are healing, but he wants to go ahead and redo his shoes now. Just spent $40 and GAVE the uncle that did it 1/2 bottle of ACE and a gallon of blackberries a week ago and it will cost at least $55 today if he doesn’t put something different on him. He’s been good for Hal so far though. And my unexperienced brother rode him and didn’t get killed or maimed. It’s just hard to find the perfect horse.
Mother and I were sitting on the front porch yesterday and they were grazing close to the yard. I hollered, “FAITH” and she jerked her head up and looked at me, like, “WHAT?”
Mama said, “She knows her name?” If she only knew.
Well, we were, up until a few weeks ago, but even then it wasn’t enough to really get the water table back up to where it needs to be, so it didn’t take long for us to get really dry again. Some areas around us have gotten some rain, but nothing wide-spread and lasting like we need.
Have you had any more inquiries about either of the horses? Have you listed them anywhere? I’ve had Hope back on AgDirect for a couple of weeks but haven’t had any inquiries on her. I think horse prices have REALLY bottomed out.
That 2nd part about the ACE and the blackberries and the $40 vs $55 doesn’t make any sense. ‘Splain’ please.
