Yeah - the water is pretty cold here too... I just did it as quick as I could... and Bay was a pretty good sport.

Well, here’s to no tornados... yikes! Are you working today, did you say?

Yeah, I’m working from 1-10 today.

I’ve been out this morning working on my garden. I got those shrubs that I had along the walk in the garden moved to out front. I’ve never liked them in the garden. I think they will work better out front. It’s damp and foggy out, but fairly warm.

BTW...hows your goldfish pond doing?

I haven’t put the gold fish in it yet... it’s still a little too cold at night, and now I’ve got the lawn all fenced off for seeding, so it would be a hassle to get to it.

So the fish are still inside ;~)

BTW - there’s someone asking about Oklahoma Coggins law here:

How is Suzi coping with your working? Any better?

I think she is adjusting. When I’m getting ready to leave I tell her she has to stay here, and she runs to jump up on the couch and lays down. When I come home, she gets pretty wound up, but settles down pretty fast, and she’s not asking for food so much.

I didn’t get to go this week because of work and rain, but when I walked last week one day with Debbie I let her go with us to see how she would do, and she handled the 4 miles fine and really seemed to enjoy it, so she’ll go with us when we do go.

I wish I was walking four miles. I plan to walk a good portion of our first trail rides. I’m going to get on Bay today and do a little walking ride bareback around the property, try to get him ready to carry me slowly.

Then I’ll figure out if I should work Cyn. She’s still in heat, and she doesn’t usually need a reason to be crabby with me. She’s so much better with Bruce, I almost think they’re better off without me. I seem to be too ‘in her face’ or something. He doesn’t bring out the same behaviors when he works her.

It’s funny how horses respond so differently to different people. That’s what makes buying and selling a horse so difficult. A horse that is great for one person, can be a real brat for someone else.

Yeah - See I think I want to work her and get her mind right, because ecurbh doesn’t have time, but if she’s pissier with me, I might just be bringing out the behaviors I don’t want, and if ecurbh just got on her and rode, she’d be fine.

You know what I mean?

Maybe I’ll just clip her and let her stand tied today.

Sounds like a good plan. A little patience never hurt anybody. If she works fine for Bruce when he rides and works her then I’d just let her be as far as anything else goes. You know, the whole “If it ain’t broke” and all that kinda stuff. ;o)

You have beautiful trees in your yard. I think that everytime I look at your pictures, and wonder what kind of evergreens they are.
Clipping sure made a difference. Mine would never stand for that, even if I had some.

You’d just have to take your time about it and don’t force the issue. You might not even clip at all in the first session, just get them to where they weren’t a quivering mass when you turned the clippers on, then get them to where they would stand still while you touch the butt end of the clippers to their shoulder, then work your way slowly on up towards their head. Always back off if you see any sign of tensing and go back to a “safe” place. Always end on a positive note and before long you’re clipping their whole head, ears and all. It makes them look SO much better in the wintertime when they don’t have a buffalo beard!

Yeah, I cut Faith’s off with sissors, mostly ‘cause I kept pulling the hairs putting on the bridle.
Hal wanted to trim Sassy’s ears with his neck clippers yesterday and she’d never even heard them before. I told him I wasn’t going to hold her anymore ‘cause she was running sideways and I wasn’t abt. to get run over and hurt over some hariry ears. He can do it slow when he’s got all day to get her used to it.

Becky Hope they get a safer way n there fast. I hope it doesn’t slow down the process of getting the work done and selling your house.

Mostly Douglas Fir... a few Hemlocks, a couple Red Cedar. :~)

Thanks!

Good morning.

No severe weather last night here. We did get one small short hard downpour and a “funny” looking cloud went over, but it came to nothing. I understand that when conditions are like they were yesterday caution and common sense need to be applied, but I’ve been amazed at the number of people who have come thru my check out line freaking out, hurrying to get home. 1. IMO, they are probably safer in the store then in their own homes, and 2. I KNOW they are safer in the building then driving down a road. 3. I’d almost bet statistics would show that less people are injured/killed in tornados then driving down a road...LOL...people are funny:)

True. Yesterday was the anniversary of the 1974 tornado splurge that killed 86 people in Alabama. Alot in our town.
I was a senior in high school and slept thru it, but a few kids in my school were killed and some of their families.
Right now it is black, windy, and pouring down. I bet alot of people are freaked like that, too.
It’s not supposed to be tornadic, but we’re leaving work if it gets bad.
Horse sale tonight. We don’t buy (hardly ever), but we go see everybody and look. Hopefully the prices will be a little better, since the grass is coming out and it’s raining!

Oh dear... you’re probably right on all that!

Glad it was not bad... did you have a lot of lightning and such too? Or just rain?

I think I missed some critical news over there. I just read WF’s post on Baby Huey - what happened to the yoga expert??? Inquiring minds want to know :)

Not alot of lightening; it is over now.
That’s wild abt the poop stones. Ours get a little block of alfalfa once a day when we have it, but not on a reg. basis. I’d hate to have to go through every poop pile.

They broke up several months back now, and he’s back home where he was.

Yoga hippy stayed with the other friends they were staying with for a little while, but I guess has a new man somewhere else.
