I’m really looking forward to that too! I’ve never ridden one. :~)

He sounds like a keeper to me. I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed that he works out for ya.

He fits into the herd OK, I just hope he works out for Gary. With Jake getting COPD ever summer and being out of commission for a few months we at least have a back up now. I am afraid that Jake will become the back up.

I am not sure who Frog is bringing, but between the two of us it should not be a problem. You may not want to go back to a trottin' horse!

Well, there’s always that risk... I’ve always had that trouble of not being able to sip champaign on trail without spilling :~)

Champaign? In Alabama? Naw, we prefer our moonshine on horseback. LOL.

I've been looking forward to taking a spin on a gaited horse. It sounds like a lot of fun! :-)

Sorry to jump in the middle of things, I know that I've been scare lately. Things have been crazy juggling interviews. My Friday interview got moved to Wednesday and I have a Tuesday interview as well. The Friday-turned-Wednesday interviewer wants me to call her to get more information (??) and I tried to do that this morning, but got her voicemail.

I think that in spite of it all, I'm probably going to come up for the get together, probably Friday to Monday. I'm going to sit on it a little bit tho. The more I think about it, the more resolved I get however.

I went and looked at a horse property with my trainer yesterday, a small one on 5 acres that had a 12 stall barn made out of one of those SPACE buildings, and an indoor made out of the same thing. They advertised it as a boarding facility, but the tack room was teeny tiny and they had no bathroom in the barn! They had an outdoor area that was only large enough as a beginner ring. It was not a good fit for us, but it was fun to quiz the non-horsey real estate agent. When I was about 5 miles away from home, I saw a truck pulled over to the side with its flashers on, pulling a horse trailer, looked to be about a 2 horse with living quarters. I pulled over to see if he or his horses needed any help, and he was extremely rude. Basically told me to get lost.

Yikes. I know if I was in trouble pulling a horse trailer, I’d appreciate all the good Samaritans I could attract!

I always stop if there’s a horse trailer in trouble too.

Especially a good Samaritan who’s a horse person. He struck gold, and didn’t even know it. :-p

Hey, if he does, he does. I'm sure he won't mind.

I'm not sure either. Probably won't know until the week before. If I get Bob's feet back in shape enough to shoe I'll probably bring him, otherwise it'll be Hope. Bob may be fractious at times, but he's a blast to ride when he gets cranked up good.

Whoo Hoo beaker:), I’m holding you to that. I’ve been telling everyone, I’ve got people coming from both sides, top and bottom of the country:) They all think we are nuts:)

I imagine we are all going to take turns on all the different horses.

Rocky stood perfectly to have his shoes on. He actually wears a size bigger then Harley. Later this evening when it’s not as hot, I’ll saddle him for awhile.

I am sure he won't mind either! When we have to catch them to go riding he herds Queen away so we won't take him or her. My daughter oves to ride him so I will have to get her to ride more often.

Are you looking to buy property together with your trainer?

At a canter probably! LOL. Some of those gaited horses can rack 5-6 mph for quite a while. We always have Blade for those who will prefer a lazier horse ;-)

How fast do they go at just a walk?

Depends on the horse. Gaited horses tend to walk a little faster, but Blade is a little on the lazy side so he frequently has to break into a rack to just catch up. Jake walks fast.

Harley can go about 4mph at the walk. Rocky and Dot, well they’re a bit slower:)

If Beaker for sure makes it here, I’ll have to get a horse from Celia since my DIL’s horse is out of commission. That horse would probably do was well as Harley.

We’ll just have to put you and Frog out front to lead the charge:)

Well you don't want Blade to lead cause we would never get anywhere, he hates to lead and even with spurs it is a battle to get him to move in a forward motion.
