I’d have had a camera :~)
Your yard looks so pretty:)
Becky
Thanks :~)
More mowing today... but I also want to do a good pony bath... she’s been trying to scratch her nethers, she really needs a good wash.
The farrier is coming today to shoe Rocky. It’s time to start riding him to get him ready for our get together. Jenny will come tomorrow to climb on him first:) I don’t expect him to do anything:)...but hey she’s young just in case.
I’ll be riding him then as often as I can. We’ll just start out easy 20-30 minute rides.
Becky
I hope he does well and feels good :~) Take pictures, of course!
Well, I know he feels good:)
My plan is after the farrier gets done today, if it is just not brutally hot, I’m going to ride Harley a bit, then when I get back, Rocky will stand tied and saddled for a while today.
Becky
Hot and humid, 90's. Pretty dang miserable.
Hair your yard looks really nice. Do you have the sprinkler on?
We’ve been in the 90’s too, but the humidity is not so bad and there has been a nice wind the last few days, so it really hasn’t been so bad.
Becky
Rocky gets the same treatment as the young ones eh? :~)
He’s probably going to be a little surprised. He may think he’s been retired :~)
Yeah - I have new grass planted where the old high line ties were... the sprinkler is for that... and to keep the horses out of the rather rickety temp fence that's around it.
I'll probably extend his riding time at a slower rate then I would a younger one, or one that hadn't been off for so long. Since he is older, and it's probably been 2 years since he's been out, I'll be easy on the old guy:). But yeah, he may be surprised:). I've never told him he had been retired tho:).
Becky
Tell him I’m trying to do a lot of dieting and mowing in the next month to lighten his load as best I can!
It’s feast or famine sometimes, with Mother Nature.
I saw that you are the worst in the country on the drought map.
Farrier came last night (finally after standing me up 3 days in a row) to shoe TheNewHorse Shane. He was quite impressed with Shane, said he was built well and had a soft eye, he thought hubby and I would be fighting over who will ride him but I told him probably not cause I love my little roan horse. We will have to slowly get Shane in shape, he has been on 17 acres of well fertilized pasture with only one other horse and he is about 100 pounds over weight and not much muscle tone since he has not been ridden much in over a year. He let me trim his bridle path last night and spray for flies, I get the impression he just does not know about all that stuff but is trusting enough to stand there and let me do it as long as I am talking to him. Time for some serious ground work training.
He sounds like a keeper to me. I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed that he works out for ya.
LOL...well, I’ll sure let you take a turn on him, but I figured you’d be more comfortable on Harley:).
Becky
Well, I thought I’d probably take a turn on Harley, but not steal your horse for the whole week!
We’ll see, I’ll ride whoever you tell me to ride. :~)
You will of course have to take a spin on a gaited horse!
