Gas here jumped something like 16 cents in just a few days....it’s over $3.00 a gallon...I’m cussing too!!!
Becky
Congrats on the job :~) I hope you pass :~)
Blankets are a bit of work, I don’t like leaving them on when it warms up, but it depends. It is another variable to decide every day.
I hope the guy decides to get Harley.
Yup :~)
Damn that's a big truck :~)
I hope they take him too...I feel certain that he would be taken very well care of and loved...IMO, maybe too much...treats and all:)
Altho I don’t think the guy is all that great of a rider at this point he seemed the type that would work at getting better. I have some fears that Harley would be the type to take advantage of anyone who doesn’t stay on top of him...but that could just be me and my fears of letting any bad habit develop in a horse, and so I over compensate. No one can predict really how a horse will be in different surroundings being handled by a different person.
Becky
I think any horse will do what he can get away with... :~)
What about the girl... 13? Is she skilled? Or also a beginner?
Heeey!!! Congrats on the job! I always kinda thought I wouldn’t mind working at a Wal-Mart either, seeing as how I spent a large amount of my time (and my paycheck) in one.
That sounds hopeful about the guy wanting Harley. I’ll bet he takes him. I’ve gotten another e-mail about Goose. It was kinda strange because I had about decided to keep him a while and had deleted the ad off of AgDirect and sent him on to the trainer last Sunday. These people must’ve saved it or something. They said in their e-mail that they’d like to talk to me about him and come look at him and asked me to send my phone number, but when I tried to e-mail them back to tell them that he was at a trainer right now my e-mail bounced back because their mailbox was full. Now that kinda thing just irritates the stew out of me. If you’re gonna e-mail somebody, at least make sure you’ve got enough room in your mailbox to receive a reply. But anyways, they did include their phone numbers so I’ve called them back and left a message about why they hadn’t gotten a reply from me and I left my phone number. But just out of curiosity, I also did a reverse lookup on their phone and found out that they live in TX, just east of DFW, so if they come look at him they’ll have quite a ways to drive. It probably won’t pan out, but it’ll be interesting to see if they call or e-mail back.
She’s young, but did very well. Seems very confident. She told me her horse use to be an event horse, and she has trouble getting the horse to stop. So I’m thinking if she rides one like that, she’d do fine with Harley. I’m thinking daughter may be able to keep Harley in line as dad learns.
She had never rode in a western saddle, and thought that would be a problem, but it wasn’t, she walked trotted and loped him just fine.
Dad is going to ride western, doesn’t have a saddle, and was asking me about the one I have for Harley. I’m really hoping he takes the saddle too if he takes Harley. I’d sure like to know that saddle fit is not going to be an issue. If he doesn’t take the saddle I will tell him to be sure to get a full QH bar saddle.
Becky
So if they call back and still want to see him, could you take them to see him at the trainers?
Becky
Well, I guess I could, but there won’t be much to see for a while. He’ll just be working him to the breaking rig, and then to the wagon for a while. I’d just as soon they wait until I get him back and get a chance to ride him myself. I’m not in any great hurry to sell him anyways. He’s going to turn out to be a real looker and just has such a sweet personality. I’d really rather that my friend Elizabeth had him, or BladeRider’s daughter Amy, but who knows when either one of them will be in a position to get another horse. So I’m kinda torn.
Got a little dusting there didn’t you. It sleeted, or something, on me last night but that was about it. It’s pretty darned cold this morning though. If it had done much of anything it definately would’ve stuck.
Ive only got gas 3 times. I’m getting there fast though:’)
Cool about the job. My sister works at WalMart. She really enjoys it (worked for the state for years as office manaager of mental health and also for doctor’s office and as accountant) She likes having a job she can leave behind when she walks out the door and where she’s not in charge of anything :)
Fingers crossed about Harley.

Hello. What kind of nursing do you other nurses do?
Congrad. on the WalMart job. I have to go there today. I am off. Too bad it is 25 degrees and snowing. I saw Bladeriders pics. It is still coming down pretty good here also.
I got a repeat offer for the Orthoflex patriot saddle I made an offer on. Must have fallen thru. I looked at the pics of it and it didn’t have the front rolls, so I let it go. I think I need them if I get another saddle, since I have a tendency to pitch forward!
I am going to put Sissy up today. She is my gray QH who is due in a month. I have been telling hubby, Hal, I had to get her off the fescue and he says there’s no need ‘cause there is not enough grass to worry about it. I would rather be safe than sorry. Anybody have experience with that?
If that “watch out” bar ever breaks I’m going to fall right on my back. I have to hitch one leg up and pull myself in with both hands.
I don’t care that much for the Orthoflex Patriot model either. There’s another Stitchdown out there right now anyways.
I’d rather be safe than sorry about putting Sissy up too. She’d be ok in that little paddock to the side of the new barn, but I think there’s enough fescue out there in your big pasture to warrant keeping her off of it.
Get some step rails put on it. I had them put on mine and it makes a WORLD of difference. You still have to use the grab bar, but you can put your left foot on the step rail first then step up and actually sit down in the seat rather than hefting yourself up there. Mine are chrome and cost about $375. The other thing I thought was money well spent was for the spray-in bedliner. I went with the Line-X brand because they have a nationwide lifetime warranty.
Oh, and another thing I had to get was a squeegee with a 6 foot handle. Otherwise you can’t reach the middle of the windshield to wash it. I went ahead and bought a wash-mitt on a 6-foot handle too. I started out using the mop but figured it was just a matter of time before I scratched it with that. Big trucks require big tools I guess.
I have a liner and it’s cool. The truck just doen’t fit my style yet. I need side steps and I thought it was neat at first but I want the glass packs off. It’s just too loud. I need to get it customized. It’s nice and since I don’t have the van anymore, I needed something bigger but right now its a guy’s truck. Sarah and I were talking about fixing it up. She wants a horse on the side and tvs in the back:’)I think a black running board or step up first, then the muffler. After that we’ll talk about the tv and horse:’) I’ll post a pic later.
