We have these small triangle shaped flies around here that seem to mostly land on ears. Once they are there it seems like no amount of head shaking, even with the mane brushing them will get rid of them. I finally just got Harley use to having me stand at his shoulder and I spray fly spray over the top of his head to cover his ears and down on his nose. I’ve tried putting it on with my hand, sponges, clothes, and it just doesn’t seem to get on heavy enough to help.

I’ll be there, Becky!!
I knew you would be here for some of it. One evening at least we will go to town to eat a burger at Scott’s and hang out in Mack’s office:)
I’m hoping the weather cooperates so we can have a bonfire one night here, you and your whole family could come. The pumpkin patch will be up and running then I figure we will do that. Not a lot of stuff that requires too much running around, mostly riding and visiting.
Becky
Well, I’m heading out for a ride.

It’s gonna be fun! Hubby will stay here and hold down the fort.
It’s raining again today! It was not in the forecast! This is the oddest summer on record, IMHO!
I wanted to mow pasture today.
Yeah, that was the plan. We'll be driving over on the 18th, so it'll be that evening before we get there coz it takes about 13 hours. Then we'll driving back on the 22nd.
Yeah, it is about a 12 to 13 hour drive WITHOUT pulling a horse trailer. It will be a long day for us and the horses.
That is what Blades hat looks like but his is brown. I also spray it with fly spray before I put it on. Hey it works and even if his "friends" laugh at him he is protected from those biting flies.
Last night the scab was 90% off. May come totally off today. I did post a before picture sometime back when he was first diagnosed, I will see if I can find it.
Well, I was talking about that, plus having just got back from Puerto Rico!
The horses can prolly have a good long rest while we visit and such :~)
Yeah, I will probably be a zombie by Thursday night.
Found it. Here is the before treatment picture, it really does not look bad, makes me feel bad that I made it worse but it WAS cancer and WAS getting bigger.
Thanks for showing it though, now I can see how it’s bubbled up from what it was... Hope the thing falls off today and you can show us an update!
It actually looks pretty good under that scab. Nice and pink with good fresh skin. I was concerned about how it would heal because he is on a weeks worth of Prednisolone Acetate for his COPD and I know cortizone can affect the healing process. Poor guy just has so much going on with him right now.
Finally have cable again. The repairman said it was on the road, which I knew because of my neighbors. Hopefully, it holds.
Everyone, please let Becky know if you are coming to her house in Oct.
I know it is hard to predict, but will it be very cold about that time? Now, that I sold Bodie, I won’t be bringing a horse. I still could bring my trailer, but it has no heat.
Our trailer has not heat either. When we camp in the cooler months we have a space heater that works great.
The weather in Oct. is very unpredictable. The weather is the only thing I’m worried about:\ While I was out riding I was thinking of just that thing, The earliest I’ve ever known it to snow here is one time it snowed on Oct. 31. But then other times we can still wear shorts at times in Oct. We’ll have to play that by ear as the time gets closer, probably won’t know what to tell you to bring till that week:)
As far as you having to bring a trailer, lets see how many people are coming and if we’ll need the space to put people. I have several heaters we could put in if we need you to bring it.
I do have the RV to put people in, and it has AC and heat. I’ll have an extra bedroom, and I have several cots we can put up in the house if needed. I hate for you to have to drag a trailer unless you just want too.
I’m so excited:)
I want everyone to know too, that if they just want to come to visit and are not interested in riding, that’s fine too. Anyone that doesn’t want to go out on a horse can stay at the house, or do what ever. I’m thinking we may just keep the riding to several hours at a time. We can always go out a second time too.
I think once everyone has been out on the trails once or twice, they could navigate them even without me with them. It’s really hard to get lost out here. I can even hang some markers.
Becky
Thats a good idea. Not sure if I have an outlet. It does have a cord for electric.
If a space heater is all we would have to run, I have plenty of extension cords that we can run to the house.
How much of a trip is it for you?
Becky
