Well, believe me I understand that. My coming to your place last year was soooooo far out of my groove no one around here could believe I was really going to do it:) I’m such a home body:). I think in the end Susie and the plane ride were my biggest worries:)

Frog I just did a mapquest from Al. to Bixby and they way they send you form Little Rock Ark on is not the best way. Once you are on I 40 the easiest way would be to stay on 40 till you get to I 75, then go 75 North till you get to the Bixby exit. The exit will dump you out on 151 st. Take a right on 151, go for about 5-6 miles and you will be right in Bixby. The roads are all very good dual highway. I don’t know why mapquest has you zigzagging on all those roads towards the end of the directions. Those are all residental and commercial roads, lots of traffic and stop lights. That’s crazy.
MT....you’re coming from Ohio, right?
If so the directions they give are not the best too once you hit Ok. Let me know that it is Ohio and I can direct you better once you get to OK.
Mostly the way Mapquest takes both of you puts you on lots of toll roads, something OK is famous for:(...and then also takes you thru lots of residential and commercial areas that there is no need to go thru.

The plane ride does seem a bit daunting by myself. I wouldn’t mind so much getting stranded in some strange city ~with~ someone... not sure I want to do that alone!

The airport in Dallas was very easy to negotiate even for a country bumpkin like me, so you should be fine:), and you have plenty of time too, between flights.

Who me? I’m a hobbit, I don’t go on all that many adventures. :~)
I used to do travel for a team of traveling salesmen at a prior job, and while I learned quite a bit about how thr process works, and can give pretty good directions about how to get somewhere and get checked in and get to shuttles and rental cars and things, I haven’t been all that many places myself, and I find it a bit scary when I have to do it. :~)
I just feel for ecurbh in the next week, listening to me rattle off “Oh, and another thing... make sure you look at each horse closely every morning after breakfast and make sure no one is colicky... look at all their legs and make sure they’re the same size... make sure the dog food bin is secure if you’re leaving Barkley... make sure our kittens are inside by dark and don’t forget to feed the feral kittens outside... Should I write all this down?”
“Oh and if the weather’s going to be nice take the blankets off...”

LOL...I imagine Mack would advise ecurbh to just let you rattle then do what you want after she is gone:)

Hey there Tuffy! You been kinda scarce here lately. We’ve missed ya. I’ll bet the Halloween decorations look cool. I know they did last year. I’ve been slacking and haven’t put any up yet. I gotta get off my butt and do that pretty soon or it’ll be time for Christmas decorations. I can’t believe that some of the stores already had them out last month. It just gets earlier and earlier all the time.
The garden really does look nice and neat now. I can’t blame you for digging up the monkey grass. It’s good for holding back dirt on a slope, but it sure makes raking leaves out of flower beds a pain. My mom planted it on both sides of her sidewalk and in order to sweep it, you had to start at one end and go all the way to the other. WAY too much trouble. Being able to sweep sideways is much easier. Plus you have to trim it every spring or it looks like crap. Sorry about the anti-monkeygrass rant. I kinda got carried away there. I’m looking forward to cooler weather so I can plant my pansies again. I love those!
Yeah, the anticipation is starting to get to me too, and the butterflies. I haven’t ever done a long haul horse trip. It should be interesting, and I hope uneventful.
Heh, why does that not surprise me! They way they recommended I go to get to that horse camp we went to on Saturday was absolutely the narrowest, steepest, crookedest rode I think I've ever been on in my life. Luckily I chose not to take their advice on the way up there or I would've been late, but going back home I thought "what the heck, I'll give it a try". Needless to say, I WON'T ever be going that way again. I think MapQuest is notorious for sending you down routes that may LOOK closer or faster, but really aren't, given the road conditions. Seems like there was an oriental couple with a child who got caught in a snowstorm in California last year and the father died, all because they took some mountain pass that Mapquest suggested. It definately pays to find out all you can about your road before you head out to someplace you've never been. So thanks for the heads up. We'll definately come the way you think is best.
LOL!! That's a LOTTA horse to let get a head of steam, especially in English tack! Back in Tennessee's younger days I used to race with him a little bit and every time I did it I saw my life flash before my eyes. I can remember thinking, "Dang, if I hit the ground from this height at this speed, I'm dead meat!". I actually did one time too and was just lucky that I landed in a fairly deep creek instead of on the gravel road. I got wet and muddy and had a few cuts and scrapes, but I lived and got a really funny story to tell to boot. So I guess that's part of living.
That's actually pretty good advice for most people in general. ;o)
