Rain has cleared up and it is going to be very nice for the next few days.
Tuffy, glad you are back and feeling better. It is so hard to lose an old friend and I still feel the pain of losing my gelding. The filly is beautiful and you will have fun working with her.
Have a great weekend everyone!
Wow, very quiet here today.
So Hair, did you all ride today?
I’m going to another playday tonight. Jenny is taking Dot and we are going to leadline Tucker:) Kristy is coming too, she is bringing her dun horse. With Rowdy out of commisson maybe she’ll finally get the dun going good:). It’s so hard to do training when you have one already going and going well.
Becky
We’ll ride tomorrow... today was yard work :~) We moved out highlines out over the driveway... better hard footing, right where the farrier needs them, and we seeded grass where the old ties were.
Good luck at the playday.. hope someone takes pictures!
New highline over the driveway... The pony says "oooh this is new and I'm a little confused so I'll park out and hope that's ok!"
The horses are closer together than recommended, but not as close as they appear here...the ties are 10 feet apart. OK for horses that get along pretty well but not out of kicking range if they didn't. There's one more tie to the left of the pony.
These will be nice when the farrier comes... puts them right where he needs them.
The little shelves for supplies and grooming stuff that used to hang on the tree now hang nicely on the fence :~)
Now for the grass to come in... it was nice and grassy there when I moved in... the highlines wrecked it.
When the highlines aren't in use I clipped them back to the highline so they won't be in the way of the trucks.
One pic of my happy impatiens by the tree... It's blurry, but I didn't like the pic with the flash either...
How is the fish tank and tadpoles doing? The tadpoles must be all grown now - they grow really fast don’t they?
Friday is doing great, she's looking really good and has totally relaxed. Sam is still a bit thin but he's growing too fast to put much weight on him - plus it would stress his bones. He is getting weaned in the next couple of days and momma will go back out with Tyke. They get along well and are both pregnant.
So - can I overnight squash to anyone? I have an abundance and am running out of ways to fix it or put it up for winter.
I have a lot of confidence in you training her well. It says a lot that she has a good memory at this age, she is probably a pretty smart little filly.
I don’t eat squash of any kind! :~)
I never saw a lot of the tadpoles, but I think they’ve either grown up or they died. Never saw any frogs.
I flushed the tank out the other day, I’m thinking about getting a few feeder goldfish for it. :~)
You would be surprised how many ways there are to fix squash :) The only problem is that they generally still taste like squash.
I have a texture problem with squash.
I don’t know... they say goldfish will hibernate when it freezes, I just think it would crack the glass... Been wondering about one of those water trough heaters.
The pond is into the ground though, not above ground so I think that helps it stay more even temperatured. I'm pretty sure the glass would break.
LOL - I’ve been freezing the string beans and have froze a lot of squash - thing is, I don’t want to eat squash all winter too. I hang bags on my neighbors gates on my way to work in the morning and then take more bags to work. After having stuffed squash for dinner and make three more to freeze, I still have a counter covered with it. I went out a bit ago to check on tomatoes, picked seven more zucchini and quit. I don’t even want to think about what the rest of the plants look like tonight.
A few other pictures.
Becky
It looks like Tucker will soon be your riding partner, that would be cool.
Aw Becky, Tucker is on his way! Nice pictures.
Hair, your Impatiens are beautiful. The recent rains have really helped mine along.
Today is Alison's 8th Birthday. There is a cook out this afternoon at her other Grandma's place.
Did you ever try making relish out of the Zucchini? A friend made some and you could not tell, it was not made from cucumbers.
The cure for rackety-coons (of which we have a LARGE surplus - want any by overnight? ;-) ) or herons (my parents have a lot of those too) is to stake down chicken wire over the surface of the pond. Not too visible (especially if you bury the edges), allows air to circulate, but keeps the pesky predators away from the fish!
I would love the recipe for chocolate zucchini cake :)
