Awwww, Bassett Hounds are just the cutest things! Sounds like you’ve got a buddy now. He’s probably TheTownDog and just pals around with everybody. He’ll probably include you on his regular rounds now since he’s found out you’ve got a nice cool place to sleep.

I don’t really think he was lost. He seemed to know where to go. Granted I don’t like to see dogs wondering around down here loose, but he seemed pretty street wise. I’m interested to see if he comes by this afternoon:)

I guess a wandering hound that comes by all the time and hangs around is better than those wandering kids. :~)

He kinda reminds me of this dog story...

An older, tired-looking dog wandered into my yard. I could tell from his collar and well-fed belly that he had a home and was well taken care of.

He calmly came over to me, I gave him a few pats on his head. He then followed me into my house, slowly walked down the hall, curled up in the corner and fell asleep.

An hour later, he went to the door, and I let him out.

The next day he was back, greeted me in my yard, walked inside and resumed his spot in the hall and again slept for about an hour. This continued off and on for several weeks..

Curious I pinned a note to his collar: "I would like to find out who the owner of this wonderful sweet dog is and ask if you are aware that almost every afternoon your dog comes to my house for a nap."

The next day he arrived for his nap, with a different note pinned to his collar: "He lives in a home with 6 children, 2 under the age of 3 - he's trying to catch up on his sleep. Can I come with him tomorrow?"

Makes you wonder about the secret life of dogs doesn’t it.

I think somebody over on HH has a cat that does pretty much the same thing. He comes for a visit and a snack and then leaves.

LOL...who knows with her:)

If she is here tho, I don’t leave the door standing open without a baby gate, so she would meet him thru a baby gate, he’d be safe:)

Sorry it took me a while to notice this post. I’ve been trying to figure out the new forum.

I don’t even have my house on the market yet. Charlie got very busy with the business and there are still some things that need to be done before I put it on the market.

Hey Beaker! As far as I know, everybody’s ok. We’ve just been unusually quiet here lately. I think Hair’s been spending most of her time over at the new horse forum she and ecurbh started. It’s pretty cool. I’ve been lurking over there a bit and posting a little. Incase you missed the link here it is...

http://www.baywindfarm.com/forum/index.php

I’m getting all psyched up for a trail ride up in TN tomorrow. Judging by the color we’re getting down here, it should be really pretty up there for the next 2 or 3 weeks.

Any new developments in your part of the world?

Hi beaker, she’s right... I’ve been pre-occupied with the forum :~)

Frog - looking forward to your pictures from your ride. So can you see everything over there even from work? pictures and everything?

Unfortunately, we will not be riding, I think we’ll be winterizing... it’s changed here. It’s cold and wintery feeling.

I still can’t see Photobucket pictures over there, but I can see any pics that exist in albums on the forum. I’ve created an album of my own and uploaded a few old pics so far. I’ve got an avatar and I’ve added a few to a couple of Groups I joined (Gaited Riders & Trail Riders).

One thing that I wish was different about posting replies is that you can’t post a reply to a SPECIFIC post and then be able to click on it and track it back to the post that it was referencing. It used to work that way on the horse.com forum until it broke. I didn’t post enough on the HGS forum to know how it worked, but none of them seem to work that way now. Good ol’ FR does though. That’s one of the many things I like about it.

Agreed. I wish it had that aspect too.

FR is best for that, you can see what post it refers to, and the pings feature. I’ve never been at a forum that was as good as this one is for pings.

I just can’t imagine it being cold and wintery feeling in OCTOBER! From now on until April is really the best time to ride down here. Even January and February aren’t really THAT bad and those are our two coldest months. We may have a couple of weeks of sub-freezing temps, but that’s about it. As long as it doesn’t rain I’m always good to go riding.

It got down just under 40 last night here... it’s chilly. I didn’t blanket but I started feeling like I should when it started raining too. The horses all stayed inside and dry, but I think I’ll be bringing out the blankets by the weekend at least for night time.

It’s snowing right now in parts of eastern WA and Oregon.

Morning everyone.

Snowing here AAaacccckkkkk.

Once I figure out how to post pictures over there that are full size, I intend to put up some of the horses who have left this summer. Still waiting for word on Rocky. I believe he stayed overnight in MO last night. He’s expected in PA tomorrow or Sunday. Praying he makes it safe and sound and well.
