Yes, that’s the one. She is permenantly retired now and I mean to keep her that way. She foundered a bit with Rocky’s foaling and the retained placenta. The vet thought he had prevented it and she’s never come up sore but one of her front hooves has the ridges and turn to it.
I think you’re probably right and you have a female, the male still loose. Have you tried throwing a towel or something over the trap so it’s more like a tunnel? Keeping my fingers crossed for you.
Oh, they are all beautiful :) I’d be hard pressed to give any of them away (please no kittens here, I’m a sucker)
Talullah looks like my queensland did when she was young.
You FORGOT the camera??? :) How come I can never get away with that.
I think you did outstanding, especially for a second show. I have a feeling it won’t be long before you beat Deb and Charlie.
I’m sorry to hear about the 4yo - that is hard to handle when you don’t know if she’s gone permentantly or just lost and will return.
Shoot, I didn’t remember that one died. I hate it because I always hope I can save them all. Blast the people who dump them or their grandparents to begin with.
Happy birthday to Ruby. I’ll bet she’ll do well in the performance world. And congratulations to Shelley.
Thanks. I left the camera in Hal’s old car and thought it was in my purse. Oh, Deb and Charlie even beat all the men in speed racking. He’s an 8 yo standardbred stud and smooth and fast as greased lightening.
I did have one, Hitch (the mama of the middle size kittens), that stayed gone 10 days when she was 3 months old. She hasn’t been let out since. Even last night I thought I saw something “whitish” under one of the trucks and it makes my hopes leap for a second.
At least Talullah got my mind off it some. She’s sweet and smart, but she keeps digging my big potted plants out. She’s destroyed alot of my flowers. I’ll be glad when she grows out of puppyhood.
Well, I hope she shows up for you.
Zuni (my queensland) chewed hoses. I can’t count how many she destroyed. Bob’s queenland, Buddy was worse though - he chewed rugs. At one point in time, all my area rugs and my leather sofa had pieces missing.
She was a sad case, particularly because she was so sweet. She was just very young though, maybe six months, and her belly was very large and she just seemed ill. I took her to the vet and he could feel two very large kittens she'd likely not be able to pass naturally. We decided to do an emergency spay, if the kittens survived then great, if not, we should save momma.
Well, when he opened her up, it was discovered the kittens were long dead and she was quite infected and 'septic' inside, I think he used that word, and so weak she probably wouldn't make it. He really advised putting her down, said we were setting ourselves up for more heartbreak to keep going, and so, with some mixed emotions I did.
Several people from here had sent donations to help with the cost, because we were particularly broke at the time.
She was a heartbreak because she was so sweet. No telling if she'd had some kind of trauma that caused it or what, but she was way too young to be pregnant at all.
That’s so sad it ‘bout makes me cry. She would’ve been a beautiful big kitty.
You can’t save them all, but you’ve made a big dent in it.
Yes, I do remeber that one - I didn’t connect it at all, I’m not sure where my mind is today.
That was the right decision on her, poor baby. Such a beautiful little thing.
You really can’t save them all, but you are sure making a dent, and insuring that some at least have long and healthy lives.
You’ll get there, she may not love you yet, but she’s not terrified - that’s good.
Rocky got loose today when he was out being treated (lead line snap broke) and he went through two strands of electric tape to get to mom. Easily caught though and put up so Bob could fix the fence - me standing in the 20 foot gap yelling at Indy and Farah was not very intimidating. Good thing they love me and wouldn’t run over me :) ‘cause they both surely wanted out to run somewhere.
Goodness! Glad he didn’t make any more mischief than he did.
Like if he’d had my pony with him ;~)
This was a "Horse and Hound" class...first the rider comes in and jumps two low jumps.
Dismounts and grabs the "hound"..
Then takes the dog over the last two jumps...fun class to watch. I didn't know the girl, but she did a good job.
OK, what kind of horse/pony is this? I thought it was one of those Asian Wild Horses. It was really cool, how the mane was clipped.
Alison and Dawn (PJ's owner) won second in Generation Gap Horsemanship.
Alison in Horsemanship (2nd place)
Egg and Spoon (4th place)
This class was the Carrot Race. You rode down and dismounted, grabbed a carrot that was on the barrel and your horse had to follow you back. You were not allowed to touch the horse or reins. PJ didnt want to move, it was so funny. Her time was over a minuite and a half....she didnt place.
She was in the "Red" today, other then the First in Showmanship.
But those "reds" were good enough for Hi-Point in her age group. It was a beautiful day also...sunny and warm.
LOL!! I can just see it! Any excuse for a little excitement.
I'll bet that sewage sludge DID smell awful, but I'll bet it was worth them sitting there smelling it just so they could rag on Jimmy about it, and he'll hear about it from them from now on until the smell dies down. Oh well, they've gotta have something to rag him about so that's as good as any.
I’m proud to hear Miss Ruby is doing so well at the trainer’s, and Miss Shelly too. Sounds like both of them should do great come September and October.
Heh...maybe I shouldn’t say it, but there’s something rather Josie like in that expression....
Oooooooo, that is one p!ssed-off looking cat! Smart idea there using that glove on a stick though. Hopefully she’ll come around, but I don’t imagine she’ll ever really enjoy being held. Miss Pearl, the Queen of the World, is like that. I didn’t get her tamed until she was several months old. Now she’ll let you scratch her all day long and lay on your chest on the couch and let you pet her, but it has to be HER idea to get up there. If you just pick her up out of the blue and try to hold her she’ll be straining to get down the whole time.
