Bon Jovi Demands Energy Drink Name Change

Rocker Jon Bon Jovi is threatening legal action against the makers of energy drink Mijovi -- because he thinks the beverage bears too much similarity to his own name.

Marcos Carrington launched the coffee-based product in 2004 and claims he was inspired to name the drink Mijovi after his girlfriend Jovita.

But the singer is demanding Carrington change the product label -- which is also marketed using the slogans "itsmijovi" and "itsmilife" -- or face a court battle.

In a recent letter to Carrington, Bon Jovi's lawyer Peter Laird says, "As you should be aware, one of Bon Jovi's most popular songs is entitled "It's My Life."

"We hereby demand that you immediately cease and desist all further use of the name Mijovi and 'It's My Life.'"

Actually Talk Talk did “It’s My Life” years before Bon Jovi. And the Animals did a song with the same name 20 years before Talk Talk. You can't sue for that, though.

His current album hit #1 on Billboard just last month.

"What is a Bon Jovi?"

He's one of those one hit wonders, in his case he wrote a bubble gum song little pre-teen 12 year old girls liked for about 12 weeks, then his career was over. I think that was about 20 or 30 years ago, and he's still trying to impress 12 year old little girls, but not having much luck.

"Their 2000 release, Crush, enjoyed overwhelming success both in the US and overseas, thanks in part to the smash-hit single "It's My Life", co-written by famous Swedish producer Max Martin."-- Wikipedia

If it wasn't for the Deadlist Catch on Discovery his screeching would not intrude on My Life

Yeah, but at least both The Animals and Talk Talk had some talent and listenability!

What's the name of it: Greatest Hits, 1983-87?

I'm teasing, but you know...

Are you sure you're not thinking of Gary Glitter?

Nope. Didn’t forget them.

If he wrote anything, I haven’t heard of it. But then again, I’m “old”. I only listen to classic rock from back in the day they made real music.

You mean like Steve Miller or The Who?

Lost Highway is the name of the album.

I’ll forgive you. :)

No, I don’t. I know who he is, I just haven’t heard anything he wrote since his first record, and even then I never listened to anything he wrote.

I rarely listen to any music at all, except for some occasional classic rock. I hear some stuff blaring on the radio sometimes, but I don’t pay much attention to it. I usually listen to talk radio when driving.

Told you, I’m old. I turned off music for good when that rap crap started.

The “gay-looking dude” is one of the few rockers out there who married and is still married to his high school sweetheart.

I mean Stevie Ray Vaughan is dead, and we can’t get Jon Bon Jovi in a helicopter. Come on, folks. “Get on that helicopter John. Shut the —— up and get on that helicopter! There’s a hair dresser in there. Yeah, go ahead in there, yeah yeah.”
