My joy at having my dSLR camera back working is diminished a bit.

I know this is off topic(LOL in this thread), but are you a Canon person by any chance?

I have a digital rebel XT that I use for work with a variety of lenses...and I'm thinking of getting a Dslr for my personal use to replace my hybrid KM-Z6...and looking at maybe the 30d. Curious as to opinions.

LOL, the only things off-topic on the Undead Thread are matters topical in the rest of Free Republic. Though we do frown on flame-wars.

To your question: No, actually, you might consider me a Nikon guy, as that is where I made my first venture into "higher-end" cameras and circumstances have held me there. I have some gripes with Nikon, but I gather they're little different from what I'd have with other manufacturers.

My recent misadventure led me to purchase a high-end Canon digital (not dSLR) but the experience, though costly, was educational, and I am left with a lot of respect for Canon as a result. Given time, I might detail the pluses and minuses of each (from my perspective), but from a user-friendly perspective, Canon seems to have the edge. At least from my perspective knowing the Nikon (and not the Canon) short-comings.

But the Canon line, I don't know it at all. Sorry.
