I passed the scene of a fatal wreck on I-80 over the weekend.

After some deliberation, I said:

It may not seem like an act of heroism to say, “I’d like to party with you guys into the late hours, but I’ll be traveling tomorrow, and I need to be rested.”

... but it is.

I hear you. This was only a few miles from the western terminus of I-80, but... coming up the hill I saw clear roadside signs that the trucker had been desperately trying to brake / reduce his speed.
