So is the inference she is boot-knocking with the missing mom’s hubby? Wow...It sure could be taken that way since neighbors claim she's visited several times. Now, if it's true she's been fired, I'd say her station also took it that way.

I think the inference is the reporter had an ongoing relationship with the man, she offed the wife during the “going to exercise class” ruse, and in an irony, is covering her own criminal case!! But she dropped her guard too soon, and now the brilliant crime is starting to be exposed...
I don’t know if that’s what really happened, but this scenario would make a better TV movie.
